Sith or Nazi?

Kathy’s back from being out of town and we celebrate by having Roxanne compare things to Nazis and spread baseless rumors about who’s picking up the tab at the fansite cantina event.  Speaking of cantinas, we hope actual social spaces like cantinas will replace fake social spaces like the mailbox in our Community Buzz discussion.

Fact or Fiction: Can you pick out the confirmed fact from the tall tales?  This week’s host challenge involves crew skills, class balance, and PAX East. Continue reading »

Going to PAX East?  So are we!  And so are a number of different SWTOR podcasts, fansites, and media sites.  We have been talking amongst ourselves and thought it would be fun to arrange a community-wide meet and greet specifically geared to the fansites.

Thus was born the SWTOR Community Cantina event, where TOR-nerds can come meet some of their favorite podcast/fansite personalities and other TOR fans.  Come join us!

What: SWTOR Community Cantina
When: Friday, March 11th
Time: 7 pm – ?
Where: The Times Irish Pub & Restaurant, 112 Broad St. (betw High and Wendell) in downtown Boston
Who (so far): Ask A Jedi, Corellian Run Radio, Curse, Darth Hater, Massively, Mos Eisley Radio, TOR Syndicate

Be aware, this event is separate from the official BioWare SWTOR meet and greet on Saturday.

See you all there.  Leave your lightsabers at the door!

Blaine Christine describes his role as Live Producer of TOR in this week’s Friday Update.  “As Live Producer,” says Blaine, “I work with the development team to ensure that anything released to our fans (read – you!) meets the quality standards that are so important to any BioWare product.”  In the jovial bantering tone we are used to seeing from him, Blaine goes on to explain his oversight of game testing and managing the feedback of the testers.  He also mentions his work with the Live Services group and how they are focused on preparing for a successful launch.  Read the full article, plus several rousing testimonials from game testers, on the official site here.

In this week’s update Master Gnost takes us back to the Great Hyperspace War, the first Republic and Sith clashes, the rise of Naga Sadow and his Battle Meditation, and the Sith’s escape into deep space.  Master Gnost speculates that the Republic may have avoided the Sacking of Coruscant if they had not made the decision to wipe out the Sith on Korriban and other planets.

Gamespot got a chance to sit down with Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk to talk about TOR.  No earth-shattering reveals, but it was nice to hear them say that the game is in the “finishing stages.”  Also, good to hear Zeschuk emphasize the importance of quality of service, not just the game itself.  The rest of the interview covers the early development of TOR, importance of story that give players a “heroic identity,” magical moments in the game, and the culture of BioWare.
