Massively recaps Damion Schubert’s talk at last week’s Game Developers Conference. Breaking down the solo player into various archetypes (the Garbo, who just wants to be left alone; the Mr. Lunch at His Desk, who can play only in short bursts due to real life commitments, etc.), Schubert examines the many reasons why some people tend to play alone. He says that a game company must understand these players and then figure out ways to draw them into social interactions. Unfortunately, he didn’t reveal the ways SWTOR might do this, but it’s still an interesting read.
