Gamescom 2011 is underway! We got a little pre-show kick-off with the EA Press Conference and a live demo of the first raid, The Eternity Vault. Next up, a longer Eternity Vault demo plus a trailer for the newest warzone, The Pit on Nar Shaddaa.

EA Games Press Conference. Representatives from many different EA titles gave short presentations. Ray Muzyka took the stage and talked about Warhammer Wrath of Heroes, SWTOR, and Mass Effect 3. Rather than just show a canned trailer, BioWare presented a live demo of SWTOR’s first raid, The Eternity Vault. This was the first time we saw detailed endgame content. Gabe Amatangelo gave play-by-play commentary as an eight-player team (which included Stephen Reid and Cory Butler) moved through the first encounter. It’s only a few minutes of play, but packs in a lot of combat. Watch archived video of whole press conference here. SWTOR coverage starts at the 20:09 mark.

Eternity Vault Presentation. Thanks to Darth Hater, we have this thirteen-minute video of a longer look at the endgame.  Again, Gabe Amatangelo narrates the action. This demo is much longer and includes very detailed explanation of the fights, the players’ roles, and other boss mechanics.

The Pit Warzone. Another Darth Hater video shows a short trailer for the newest warzone, the Pit on Nar Shaddaa.

Best Online Game. Gamasutra reports that SWTOR has been selected to receive the award for Best Online Game at Gamescom.
