Terraria — “If you loved Minecraft, but wish there was more of a game there, Terraria might be the place to start looking.”

Kingdom of Loathing — “The only MMO I know with a meat-based economy.”

Earth Defense Force 2017 — “I love this game SO MUCH….This is a game about blasting giant insects, robots, UFOs, and space dragons with increasingly ridiculous weaponry.”

Ever heard of any of these games? Yeah, neither had we. This week the Extra Credits gang gives

More Extra Credits and Comments after the jump.

shout outs to a bunch of video games that are off the radar, but deserve to be spotlighted because they are unusual or just too dang fun to miss. We still have another three months to go before SWTOR releases; perhaps one of these games will help pass the time.

  1. Fun story: Kingdom of Loathing is the reason I got into the industry in the first place. The guys running the show over there are some of my closest friends, and I wanted to do what they did.

Unfortunately, I can’t code anything beyond “Hello, World!”

  2. That’s so interesting! I have to say, Kingdom of Loathing was one of the games that caught my attention. Now I REALLY want to try it.
