After the sad news yesterday of there being lay-offs at BioWare, rumors started circling about who was let go. Today, they officially announced that the SWTOR “Conductor” – Stephen Reid was one of those affected. He let the community and his Twitter followers know today.

I was one of those affected by layoffs at BioWare Austin yesterday. I got to build an amazing team while I was there, and miss them already. – Stephen Reid

Despite having to deal with all of us gamers and all the crazy questions, complaints etc. Stephen aka @Rockjaw never said a bad word or put down the community. He would give various developers looks at some of their responses…knowing full well that as the community manager he would have to endure the backlash or outcry from the “rabid” forum users, Twitter followers.

While it is sad for anyone to lose their job at any time, today feels like the SWTOR Community is losing a family member, even if he is the wild uncle with a British accent. All the best to you Stephen from all us here at Corellian Run Radio…May the Force be with you always!

  1. Well said. Stephen wormed his way into our hearts and will truly be missed. I wish him lots of luck in finding a great job fast.

  2. You know, I haven’t logged into swtor in over a month because my life has been utter crap lately, but seeing something like this truly makes me sad. I have been following swtor for a long time now and this truly does feel like losing a fam
    ily member :'(
May the force be with you Stephen Reid, we will miss you.

  3. Sad indeed and maybe a mistake Bioware will regret in future. When you have a “face” on a product, as Stephen has been to us, you better have a super strong replacement coming in. He was always awesome to the community and will be missed. I hope Bioware knows what they are doing. 🙁

  4. sad news… I wish all those affected by the layoffs the best of luck in their future adventures.

  5. I wish them the best of luck.

P.S. You should go read some comments in the official SWTOR forum. Some players really don’t have empathy.

  6. That’s truly a shame. I won’t feed the trolls by acknowledging their negativity.
