Photo-Receptor Focus on: Nar Shaddaa World Event

By Maer

A new event? Chevin Conglomerate? The Nar Shadda World Event? All I can say is: It’s about time! Events are awesome, as I said back in April. This is the most awesome news and I’m so excited about playing and experiencing this. And it’s LIVE!!!

More after the jump…

I haven’t had a chance to get in-game and play it yet, but I’ll be doing that as soon as I finish this week’s article, so it’s going to be a quick one.

In my opinion, we’re in desperate need of new content and, judging by the trailer, this looks to be as much fun as the Rakghoul event was. And I loved the Rakghoul event!

While this is exciting, I must once again take this opportunity to beg Bioware to put out more events. I know I’m repeating myself here, but I think it’s important enough to reiterate what I said four months ago.

We need to have more events. Many more! We need some that will repeat each year, in place of the holidays we do not have in the Star Wars universe. They need to have achievements attached to them, with changes each year.

We also need more special, non-repeatable events, such as the Rakghoul event. If we had more annual events, the number of these special events could be as low as two a year. Without annual events, four months wait between special events is simply too long. Especially for gamers coming in from games that have them almost monthly.

Events create excitement among the player base. They foster social activity. Players increase their hours of play time, in order to complete the tasks of the event. They race to collect whatever gear, pets or vehicles might be available. They comment about it in general chat. In short, it creates a happy group of folks who are having fun.

All you have to do is look at the overwhelmingly positive reactions to events to know that this is true.

So, thanks for the new one, but please give us even more. We crave them. We need them. We appreciate them. We…um, you get the idea, right, Bioware?

Anyway, I’m really looking forward to this one. I’m going to scour every little bit of info about it, so that I’m not as unprepared as I was with the Rakghoul event. This time, I don’t want to be missing a piece of gear at the end of the event.

The Nar Shadda event sounds like a blast, from the little I’ve seen so far and I can’t wait to jump in and find out all about it.

So, well done, Bioware and please don’t make us wait too long for the next one, OK?

That’s my two credits. What’s yours?

Ready…set…discuss…

  1. agreed! these events are fun and give us goals in game out side of regular game play! Also for those of us that are lvl50 it breaks the daily grind of.. well dailies. need MOAR Bioware!!!

  2. I bet that Bioware wanted to release The Grand Acquisition Race way sooner but “unexpected” things (i.e. transfers, group finder, f2p transition, etc.) delayed it a lot. We’ll problably get the next world event in… 2 months?
