HoloNet Links #60

It’s that time again when all of Star Wars fandom comes together to share in their beloved franchise. Yes, I’m talking about Star Wars Celebration…number VI to be precise. It starts today August 23rd and lasts through August 26th. It is happening in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center. This will be a great event filled with hardcore and casual Star Wars fans alike…all sharing in the Star Wars mania. Not to mention the amount and wide variety of fans, but the sheer number of events, panels, memorabilia vendors, special guests, and basically everything Star Wars you could want and more.

More on Star Wars Celebration VI & real Speeder Bike after the Jump…

Now I mention the large number of events and I’m sure some are rolling your eyes…there can’t be that many. Well, let’s put it this way I was going to take a screenshot of the event calendar for the weekend until I scrolled to the bottom of the page and saw there was more than one page and even more than two pages…try 11 pages of events. The grand total in all is 258 events, most of them on-going through the weekend! I am enclosing a link to the calendar of events and also a link to the official Star Wars Celebration VI website. It contains more information on special guests, autograph signing times and much more.

  • Star Wars Celebration VI on the Radio?

While not all of us can make it to Orlando to join in all the events, we can still be a part by tuning into Star Wars Celebration VI Live on SiriusXM Radio. The radio station will launch tonight at 6pm EST. The station will air during the entire event starting tonight and lasting through August 27th at 3am EST. So if you can’t get the time off work or school to get to the actual event, you can simply tune into Sirius channel 123, XM channel 142 or the online channel 770. According to the article on Sirius Buzz, this is the second year for the channel and will feature several interviews and a host of special events. Be sure to take some time and tune in!

  • SWTOR Community Round-Up

There are several server events going on this weekend and over the next few weeks. You can see the ones listed on the official Community Round-Up blog.

[Canderous Ordo] 1v1 Imperial PvP Tournament: “Sponsored by Torva Nex! This Saturday, August 25, at 4 PM EST, I will be sponsoring a 1v1 tournament on the Imperial side, with a 750k credit prize. No entry fee! No gear needed! Just sign up and show up.”

[Corellian Run] Open World PvP – Ilum / Sunday, 26 Aug / 8 PM Eastern: “We had a great time last weekend. Let’s do it again! We will hit Ilum once again for another round of combat. Opposing forces will meet at their respective bases and move to attack the enemy at some point in the middle. We look forward to some good old fashioned war or organized chaos on Sunday.”

[Dalborra] Dalborra open World PvP Series: “Hi Guys, I am going to be running a series of Open World PvP events here on Dalborra over 3-4 weeks.”

[The Harbinger] 4v4 Outlaw’s Den Tournament THIS WEEK: “Since tonight’s 2v2 Tourney seemed to be a success we’ve decided to do a 4v4 Tourney during the week. Good days for us are Wednesday the 22nd and Thursday the 23rd. We were thinking of starting at 7PM PST since that seemed to work out well this evening.”

[Prophecy of the Five] Server Meet n Greet And Guild Rush: “On Friday August 24th at 9:00 East Death’s Fist/ will be hosting a Meet n Greet on the Lower Promenade on Nar Shaddaa”

[Jung Ma] Massive World PvP event: “This is a server wide worldPVP event that Alpha would like to set up and invite anyone able and willing to participate. We plan to have a full ops group of our own, maybe a few more, along with some allied guilds if they wish to show up. We want this to be as even and fair as possible, so we will more than likely not want any more than 50-60 on planet for our side.”

In the forum Round-Up section, we have a mention from Eric Musco about the new Fan Site Forums. This will allow the community to find all your favorite fan sites and maybe a few others. It will also be a place for those fan sites to post their articles and touch base with other fan sites and the community in the SWTOR forums.

An interesting thread has to do with the last World Event, the Grand Acquisitions Race. This thread was not a guide or even showcasing rewards. This thread was seeing what was the lowest level players were able to complete the event. A couple mentioned doing it at level 18 and another at level 15! That is pretty impressive considering a couple areas are around level 30. Nicely done to all those making the event a bit more exciting.

What HoloNet Links article would be complete without some sort of fashion related mentions for Maer 🙂 This forum thread has to do with Synthweaving and has a master list for all Orange sets of armor for both factions. Nice job by community members to get all this information together and make it easily accessible for the player base!

Another interesting thread, at least for me, is one relating to the Sith Warrior. This thread talks about players and which path they chose to walk, the Light side or the Dark side. I am going Light side with my Sith Warrior. I find it challenging to be for the Empire, but be honorable at the same time…actually it usually means more work lol. If you are playing a Sith Warrior, what path are you walking? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Star Wars Speeder being built

Ah the Star Wars Celebration starting this weekend brings back memories from the movies. One for me that I always love is the Speeder Bike chase on the Endor Moon. Racing among the trees at extreme speed seems so amazing, but something only for the movies. Well hold on, one company, Aerofox is making it reality. No, I’m serious. In PCMag.com article by Chloe Anderson, the actual “speeder bike” is built and being tested. The bike is not quite up to the high speeds seen in the Return of the Jedi, but 30 mph and 15 feet in the air is not too shabby either. Below you can see an image of the twin fan driven vehicle and also a short video of it being tested. Hmm, I know what I am putting on my Christmas list!

I think I would like to see an Aerofox Speeder in the game. What do you think? Would any of you buy a special edition Aerofox speeder? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
