Photo-Receptor Focus on: HK-51

SPOILER ALERT! If you haven’t yet finished the quest line for HK 51, you may want to wait before reading ahead.
There’s lots of excitement in the SWTOR universe lately, but today I’d like to focus on HK 51. Getting him is a very long process, as it should be. Also, you can’t complete it solo, so be sure to get your friends together. My experience through that process was enjoyable, although not without some glitches.

We had a full group of four from start to finish, which made this a fun experience. We ran hither and yon throughout various areas and Flashpoints. Others have posted excellent guides, so I’m not going to give you a play by play, but I have to say this is the most fun I’ve had outside of raids since our last event.
Some of the quests could be frustrating. The jumping puzzle caused me a little grief, but then I’ve always felt the jumping mechanic is not right in SWTOR. It usually takes me several times and watching carefully where others stand to be able to jump. Fortunately, others are there to revive me and pull me up when I fail. I jump better in other games, so I honestly think my TOR character is “off” somehow.
Most of the quests were fun, though. Even the dark, confusing one wasn’t too bad. And, of course, I enjoyed running with my friends and seeing the new areas. We had a lot of laughs that day as we went from new quest to new quest.
It was while we were in the Flashpoint False Emperor that we had the most problems. Not the FP itself; that was a breeze. Three of us got our item off HK-47 with no problem, but our fourth person had an issue. He had gone on another character with us for that FP, not realizing he couldn’t get the item to send off to his main. So, we ran it again with his main and no item. We ran it a total of four times, but nada. He later found he did have the item on his alt, which is pretty odd considering that character didn’t even have the quest. Finally, he got it the next day with a new group. Apparently the glitch was that he needed to be with someone who didn’t already have the item. Once he did, he had no issue getting it. He made sure he reported the bug, too.
My favorite part (and a big SPOILER) was on The Theoretika, where my elegant, rational, unemotional Sith Sorc resorted to banging on the computer when it didn’t work the way she wanted it to. To me that moment was worth the whole quest line. The unexpected humor had me laughing a long time and it was an awesome touch. Well done, Bioware!
And at the end, I had my shiny new droid, all ready to go out and tear stuff up with me. Totally worth it!
