Watch the Senate tower for the signal… “One if by land, two if by space.”

Yes that’s right, in an early-morning Tweeted announcement, BioWare has pulled back the curtain to reveal that Star Wars: The Old Republic is getting its first expansion pack… Rise of the Hutt Cartel.  This much has been announced so far:

More after the jump…

  1. Level Cap Increase: While there was much speculation earlier, it was revealed that the cap will be upped to 55.
  2. The planet Makeb is part of the expansion.
  3. The storyline will continue, with fully voiced character acting. No additional details were provided, and the language is a bit vague on whether that is the individual story-line or a collective story-line.
  4. The Hutts are rising, and trying to take over more than just the Galactic Trade Network.

While earlier, pre-layoff promises were made about Makeb being expansion-pack sized and free, under the new business model this has changed. So no, it will not be free. It will be quite cheap, however. The list price is $19.99, with subscribers getting the low-low price of $9.99. A date for the release has not been set, however their website does say that there will be more information “over the coming months”.

Stay tuned for details…
