HoloNet Links #87
SWTOR is making some changes to their security to help prevent accounts from being hijacked. Everyone will be required to sign-in to their account with their display name by April 2nd, 2013. This applies both to logging into the game and the SWTOR website. Phillip, who works for BioWare in security, has been answering players’ questions and concerns about this change in an ongoing thread on the SWTOR forums. I would urge you to read through the changes at the official post and then go read through Phillip’s posts. As a note, you can go ahead and start using your display name now to login to the game and SWTOR website.

CourtneyWoods Bioware, when can we get a word on player housing? | 03.06.2013, 02:55 PM

I forwarded this along to our Lead Designer, Damion Schubert, and this is our current statement on Player Housing:
“We’re not saying never, but it’s not on our immediate roadmap. If we were to expand on this in some direction, we would first focus on improving the degree that players can customize their ship interiors, but even that feature is a ways down the road.”
I think being able to customize your ship interior would be great, but that said they do have a lot they are busy working on now, especially with Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion coming out later this year. It is great to see the Community Team responding and letting players know that it has been passed along to members of the development team.
I wanted to stop in and give you an update about this issue. We have a fix implemented to be deployed with the next patch (1.7.2) that will allow your companions to wear gear earned via Galactic Reputation.
As with any fix, testing could provide us with information that requires a delay, so please know that time frames are always intended but never promised. Thanks for your patience on this!
This comes directly from the last in-game event with the Gree Enclave. Personally, I think this was a huge oversight on BioWare’s part not to test or allow companions to be able to wear the armor from the release of the event. Now that said, it does look like the community has been heard and it sounds like by the next major patch, 1.7.2 this situation could be fixed, but like anything this could change. Hopefully it won’t be too much of an issue in testing to allow companions to wear the reputation armor from the Gree vendor.
I know ready check is something that you folks have been looking forward to for a while and so I wanted to give an update.
Currently, development is near complete on ready check for SWTOR! Right now, it is slated for Game Update 1.7.3 but know that it still has to pass QA along with some other things so it is entirely possible it could come out after 1.7.3.
I am going to do my best to give actual timing on features like this when I can just please be understanding that timing, as in the example above, is entirely subject to change. As long as you can all remain understanding of this, I can give more specifics than we have in the past.
This will be a very welcomed feature to the game which the community has been wanting for a long time now. It is great to hear Eric say that they are actually working on the ready check system and near completion. He states that basically it has to pass Quality Assurance, but that it “could” be ready as soon as patch 1.7.3! Awesome news to hear, even if it is delayed a bit, to know they are working on it is a huge plus.
Hey everyone, wanted to pop in and clarify any confusion on this!
What we released previously is that Cartel Coins would be available for purchase across 6 countries in Europe. I believe that is the announcement everyone recalls seeing before.
However, if you are in North America, fear not! I spoke with our Marketing team and Cartel Coins should be available for purchase now’ish in both GameStop and BestBuy. From what they told me they will be rolling out to stores over the next couple of weeks. I would ask your local retailer for more information as they may not be available in all stores.
Hope that clears it up!
Another bit of good news from the Community Team. It seems Cartel Coins will be able to be purchased in some form from stores in North America in a couple weeks or so. This should help out BioWare on the financial end of things. A person may have a child or relative that plays SWTOR, but until they have a way to purchase a card or something a player can redeem in-game for Cartel Coins this remains an untapped area of revenue.
It has been a little over a week with the new Community Manager and Team working on things. How do you think they are doing? Just from my perspective, I have not seen the Dev Tracker with so many posts in a very long time. Now, that does not mean anything if nothing is followed through, but just from the amount of posts and in the number of various threads, it does feel like a very positive thing. Nice job Community Team. Let us know what you think of the job they are doing in the comment section below.

- SWTOR Fan Fiction
Mandalorian Girl is back with a long awaited new edition to her ongoing story. The newest edition is titled, Aiden Part 2 and picks up right where the story left us. As we learn more in this story, it becomes more clouded and intriguing as to what really is going on and who should really be trusted. That comes from great writing and again Mandalorian Girl does not disappoint. It is also interesting how Aiden’s emotions for Na’sha are being revealed more and more. I am looking forward to future chapters, to see how Aiden handles his emotions and love. Will it be his downfall or the one thing he can hold onto? Only time and future writings from the author will reveal this. For now I offer this small excerpt from the latest edition.
“Aiden cringed at the way his brother said “entertained”. Unhealthy thoughts flitted through his mind for a brief moment before being swatted away. Saragus was a wealthy and handsome man who frequently swept women off their feet with his charm. Aiden just hoped Na’sha wouldn’t be one of them.
Saragus laughed. “I can sense your distress from here. No worries. She is safe with me. I would never take something you want. I am your flesh and blood. Your happiness is my happiness.” Saragus seemed thoughtful. “Though, should you change your mind about her…”
“She is mine, Saragus. I let her go once, I won’t make that mistake again.” Aiden felt an ache in the pit of his stomach at the thought of losing her.”
- SWTOR Open World PVP video
Yes, you heard me correctly…Open World PVP. On the Prophecy of the Five server, a group of Imperials went deep into Republic territory and their journey led to a 3 hour battle!
Honestly, the framerates look fairly good considering all the fighting going on and the number of actual players fighting. Thanks goes out to SWTOR forums member, Master_Nate, for posting this video. He also suggests other servers work on creating their own events and link them in the forums. These events can be lots of fun and give players a nice change of pace. Check out the video below and let us know what you think concerning what makes a great server event. Be sure to head over and leave your comments on the official SWTOR forums in Master_Nate’s thread and let him know what you thought of his video.
That’s it for this week’s HoloNet Links. If you have a particular link, story, video, or topic related to SWTOR we would love to hear about it! You can send those to us here at Corellian Run Radio and we can place it in a future article. Just email us the links and/or the details for the event at firstname.lastname@example.org, or you can also leave any link suggestions in the comments below, or in Corellian Run Radio’s Facebook group. Thanks and see you all next week!
