Photo-Receptor Focus on: Contraband Pack

By Maer

Each new pack is bringing some very cool items, so kudos to Bioware for that. We still don’t have as much in the way of color as I’d like, but I was happy to see that several items sported more color than in the past. This latest pack even had what appears to me as a new skin, although I could be wrong on that.

More after the jump…

On color, yep, I saw several new sets that were not black or grey. Yay! The colors are much better than in the past. The Handmaiden set didn’t do anything for me at all, but I really like the Darth Malak and Recovered Hero sets a lot. The Genteel Dress set, though is simply ugly. It has some nice elements taken separately, but they don’t work together. It comes across as a mishmash of styles, something Bioware has done in the past. It didn’t work then, either.

Probably the thing I like best in this new pack is the Cartel Luxury Skiff. One of my guildmates has this and I must admit the whole grape animation is truly inspired. Yeah, this is definitely a cool addition.

The musical instruments were also a nice touch, although I’m not sure about the holographic effect.

The best new pet for me is the Model X-70 Phantom. The GS-1 Sentry Droid is nice and colorful and a welcome addition, as well. I also liked the Venomcrest Lylek.

The new pack has the usual assortment of Companion Gifts, which are not something I’m very interested in. Likewise for the emotes. Although the Point and Laugh emote does look like fun.

Overall, the new skiffs are what makes this a good pack and I definitely want the luxury edition. Popping grapes? Oh yeah!

That’s my two credits. What’s yours?

Ready…set…discuss…

  1. I could not agree more Maer. I love the new direction of these Packs! Colorful, inventive and they add that little touch of “Star Wars” humor into the mix. Yes they may not be perfection, but I think they are a (edit; I think the adjective HUGE should be inserted here) step in the right direction. Kudos to Bioware!
