HoloNet Links #98
As we near the end of May, it means we are entering Summer. What does that mean for SWTOR? Well, it just so happens, BioWare has given us tentative dates for new game updates, more Double XP Weekends, another visit scheduled by the Gree and several other juicy tidbits of content.
Summer schedule for SWTOR, PTS, Fan Art & more after the Jump…
- Summer of SWTOR
First off, in less than two weeks Game Update 2.2 launches on June 11th. According to a post by Bruce Maclean, Update 2.2 will contain at least the following features.
Nightmare Mode Terror From Beyond. It’s got vicious new mechanics and is definitely not for the faint of heart. I’m very excited for you to see the new gear that comes with this, which uses a new appearance system we’ve developed for armor and weapons called ‘Scrolling UVs’.
New Guild Bonuses! Players in guilds currently receive a +5% experience bonus, but now every 5 active players in the guild will add an additional 1% bonus to XP and reputation, up to a maximum bonus of 10% each.
Crafters can now craft Underworld gear! But don’t RE that piece if you are still using it…
Unified fleet chat channel for each faction, for easier group finding without having to hop between instances
It is great to see a new level of difficulty added to Terror From Beyond Operation. I’m sure you raiders out there are eager to see what new game mechanics are going to be added to this Operation. Personally, I am intrigued about the new appearance system mentioned, called “Scrolling UVs.” It states this will be for armor and weapons. Anything that adds to a character’s appearance is a welcome thing, in my opinion. Let’s see how it is implemented.
Double XP Weekends are returning to SWTOR! For three weekends, starting June 22nd and continuing through the last weekend July 4th – July 7th. The last weekend will give everyone an extra day of Double XP goodness! This is an excellent way to level up any of your alts in a matter of days. For those not into making alts, you could use the Double XP Weekends to level through Chapter One, of other class quests. This way you will have the buff for every class when you are using your main character.
Next up on July 9th, Game Update 2.2.2 is scheduled for release. So far, according to Bruce Maclean’s post, it is going to be bringing a Nightmare Mode for the Scum & Villainy Operation. This seems pretty quick for getting a new mode for an Operation so new to the game. This seems to be a good sign when content is being generated faster and does not involve the Cartel Market.
By July 23rd, it appears the Gray Secant will be arriving with the Gree. Yes, yes, many of you are ready for a new event. I actually like the Gree event, because it is fairly simple and quick way to earn commendations and pretty good amount of credits. This time around may also give players a bit more challenge, since BioWare listened to the community and will be scaling the event for level 55. Hmm, maybe I should have tried those World Bosses before this next time lol.
Okay, but some are still wanting a new recurring event (me included) and BioWare has listened! August 6th, Game Update 2.3 is scheduled to be released. One of the new pieces of content will be a new recurring event. There are no other details as to the type of event or where it will be happening in the SWTOR galaxy. However, there is much more being released in Game Update 2.3…New Flashpoints (yes, that is right the post has it plural!), a new Daily area, and “significant graphical upgrades.” This seems like a lot of new content and I’m glad to see it.
Now that is a lot of good news for SWTOR with coming content and events for this Summer, but sadly outside of PVP fixes/tweaks there will not be anything for that segment of SWTOR players. I am not a PVPer, but there has only been two new PVP Warzones added to the game since launch…Novare Coast 1.2 and Ancient Hypergates 1.6. I can understand them not wanting to rush something out, but would it be so hard to give players a new Huttball map. So, unless something changes, PVP players will have to wait for Game Update 2.4, stated also in the last part of the post by Bruce Maclean. Now, he teases that “you (the PVPer) should look forward to Game Update 2.4.” All I can say that is, you better deliver.
- Public Test Server
There was another bit of news released the end of last week on a dev tracker post…the Public Test Server is back up. BioWare is seeking players to help test Game Update 2.2. Part of the test will focus around the new nightmares modes for Terror From Beyond and a sneak peek at that mode for the Scum & Villainy Operation that will be released later this Summer. Besides testing out those new modes in Operations, there are a few new changes to some advance classes and also a new gear level being added, called Kell Dragon gear. If you want to get in and see what the new changes are all about and help improve the game, be sure to enable the option on your game launcher to use the Public Test Server.

RECOGNIZING YOUR ISSUE
Help Tickets go directly to Customer Service so that an agent can come and help you with your issue. Bug Reports go directly to QA so that a tester can get the bug submitted to development for a fix. These issue types are on totally different pipelines, which means they are not easily interchangeable, so it’s important to submit your report to the right place, whether it’s something CS can help you with or something that needs to be patched.
Before you post an issue to this forum, make sure that you have submitted a Bug Report rather than any other kind of ticket.
SUBMITTING YOUR ISSUE
There are two ways to submit a Bug Report: typing “/bug” into chat or using the UI. Trade secret: since they both go to the same place, we call them all /bugs!
Typing /bug into chat (then hitting enter, of course) brings up a window into which you can type. All you have to do is describe the issue as you have seen it, then click submit. If you want to be very precise, you can select a topic from the dropdown, but honestly, your description is the most important thing to us.
Clicking the (?) icon, selecting Request Help, clicking [Create Ticket+], then selecting Bug Report from the category dropdown will also submit a /bug. IMPORTANT: Only selecting Bug Report will send the ticket to QA; any other selection will send your report to CS as a help ticket! From there, you just describe the issue as you have seen it. Click Create Ticket, and when you see the FAQ, don’t forget to click [Submit Ticket +] again!
There is no need whatsoever to include things like class, level, server, time, etc., no matter which method you use. All that info (and more!) is gathered from your game and submitted to us alongside your ticket. We do, however, ask that you include the full names – when possible – of any items, NPCs, objects, quests, etc., that your report deals with.
If you encounter an issue that you need CS help with, but that is also a bug, go ahead and report the issue both ways. Send a Help Ticket to request an agent’s help and a Bug Report to submit the issue to QA to be fixed.
Speaking of testing and helping report bugs, Amber Green’s helpful post above can make your bug reports and Customer Service issues are going to proper places. If you follow her above helpful tips, this will help in the PTS and also in the live game also. Let’s go out there get those bugs found.
On May 30th, all game servers, SWTOR.com, and the launcher, will be unavailable as we perform scheduled maintenance. Game Update 2.1.1 will be implemented during this downtime.
Details are as follows:
Date: Thursday May 30th
Duration: 4 hours
Time: 3AM PDT (10AM UTC) – 7AM PDT (2PM UTC)
Thank you for your patience as we maintain service for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™.
Although some of you have already downloaded the new patch, others might be waiting to get home from work and/or school. At least you can check out the patch notes by using the link in Amber’s post above or use the Game Update 2.1.1 patch notes link here.
It looks like BioWare has used another suggestion mentioned on Corellian Run Radio’s podcast…quest rewards are visible in your Mission Log! Thank you BioWare, finally I can drop those quests that are not going to give me anything…um I mean, now I can better plan out how to use the rewards from quests 🙂 On top of that, a list of quests found in the patch notes, have had their rewards increased. I also fully endorse this update. The Cartel Market has some new items and a few other items, including some packs have been discounted. There are several other minors adjustments and fixes in this Game Update, so be sure to read through it and be aware of what you can expect to see when you login next time.

- SWTOR Fan Art
As we wrap up this week’s HoloNet Links, I wanted to highlight someone in the SWTOR community who has a gift for artistic work. This artist, forum user – Ion-Silental, has submitted some of their pieces of art on the forum threads and it is really well done. Of course, I love almost any Star Wars art, but the ones from this artist that I have seen are very good at getting the Star Wars “feel” and yet there is a playful side to some, while others invoke other emotions.
Let us know what you think in the comment section below and also go to the forum thread and let the artist know how you like their work.
That’s it for this week’s article. If you have a particular link, story, video, or topic related to SWTOR we would love to hear about it! You can send those to us here at Corellian Run Radio and we can place it in a future article. Just email us the links and/or the details for the event at firstname.lastname@example.org, or you can also leave any link suggestions in the comments below, or in Corellian Run Radio’s Facebook group. See you all next week!
