So, make sure to spend some quality time with your loved ones, but if you have time, why not cool off by enjoying some Double XP while playing SWTOR.
Treek Trouble?, Czerka Corp Flashpoints, & more after the Jump…
- Czerka Corporation in Update 2.3 on the PTS
From details coming out of the Public Test Server and from BioWare blogs, it appears that the one and only Czeka Corporation will be having a big impact in Update 2.3. In this BioWare article, it mentions what is currently being tested on the PTS. The article refers to the Czerka Corporation in regards to three major additions in Update 2.3. First, the new mission or daily area, called CZ-198. It will be a new level 55 daily area all based on CZ-198, a small moon owned by Czerka. This moon/daily area will be accessible to both factions.
The next Czerka addition for Update 2.3 is the NEW Flashpoint – Czerka Corporate Labs. This has you and your Flashpoint group responsible for stopping one of Czerka’s scientist, Ramus Blys. Oh, Ramus is just the one who designed all the deadly weapon technology in the facility. Sort of sounds like if Tony Stark turned evil, without the whole armor suit…at least I don’t think so. I guess we will have to see what is waiting for us.
The third area Czerka leaves their mark in Update 2.3 is in another NEW Flashpoint. This Flashpoint is named Czerka Core Meltdown. Hmm, I wonder what this could possibly be about. In the news article from BioWare, it states “a race against time” to stop the meltdown. That would make an interesting mechanic for the Flashpoint, if it was timed. I doubt it is, but an interesting idea. The story of this Flashpoint is you and your group must battle your way through the Czerka facility that is guarded by “The Vigilant.” Any of you who have played through the Imperial Agent storyline, will possibly get a sort of déjà vu feeling. “The Vigilant” is not a person or being, it is the entire security system.
Thank you BioWare for giving us multiple NEW Flashpoints! I am also glad that they are using another “player” in the galaxy, like Czerka. Another interesting feature BioWare is adding to these Flashpoints, at least on PTS…Neutral-roles Story Mode for level 55 players. By using Group Finder for Story Mode on these two Flashpoints, it will match you with the first four players no matter the player’s role. Not exactly sure how this feature will work, but it will make getting through Story Mode faster with less time spent waiting for a queue to pop. Both of these Flashpoints will each have a level 55 Hard Mode. Now all this said, it is still on the Public Test Server an subject to changes.
- New Companion Treek coming in Update 2.3
The new companion’s name is Treek, a female Ewok. Yes, that is right an Ewok. I have to admit when I saw the video posted on Google+ by Josh Bryon and made by the OSW Guild, I thought it was another clever BioWare prank. However, it is very real and looks like will be heading to the live game with the rest of the goodies in Update 2.3. Here is a video all about the new companion currently being tested for Update 2.3 on the Public Test Server.
Now this lovable, healing & tanking “furball” is not without her share of controversy. As the video talks about to get the new companion it will require Legacy level 40 and one million credits (insert Dr. Evil voice and laugh). To some, in the forums, that seemed like a steep price to pay. That led to threads about getting a petition to have the companion be offered on the Cartel Market. As we will see in the dev notes below, Eric Musco discussed the very issue about Treek in regards to being on the Cartel Market. I’m sure many have some very strong feelings about this issue, but all we know for sure, at least for now, is there is a new companion coming in Update 2.3 and it is currently being tested on the PTS. Without getting into heated discussions, we would like to know your opinion about how the new companion should be offered in SWTOR. Should it be an in-game questline, a Legacy unlock, a Cartel Market item, or maybe a combination of these suggestions? Please let us know you thoughts in the comment section below.
- Dev forum posts
As a heads up we are not going to be releasing details about the subscriber appreciation here on the site ahead of time. However, I would keep an eye on your email. Once we have everything finalized we will be sending an email to all subscribers, so look for that in the future! Glad you guys are all looking forward to it though, keep your eyes peeled for information soon™.
EricMusco Lol Looks like devs got early start on the weekend. | 07.03.2013, 12:46 PM
Nope! We are still here in the office, although I am pretty eager to get to some grillin’!
Just as a reminder, we said the subscriber appreciation would be *around* the 4th of July, not necessarily on it
Subscriber Appreciation has a wonderful ring to it! This was brought up during BioWare’s LiveStream event and how they were working on ways to make sure the loyal subscribers felt appreciated. It looks like BioWare is listening and will be following through on their promise to do so. Now, there are no details on what they have planned in way or form of Subscriber Appreciation, but I am remaining hopeful that it will be something worthwhile (Crossing fingers…please don’t let it be only fireworks).
JesseSky [Suggestion] Please add mailbox to the Cartel Bazaar | 06.28.2013, 11:50 AM
After some negotiation with the Galactic League of Postal Workers, we’ve come to an agreement and installed a mailbox in the Cartel Bazaar. They deliver every mail by hand, you know.
Bravo, to the testers for making this suggestion for the new Cartel Bazaar coming in Update 2.3. Also, thank you to BioWare for listening to those people testing and making suggestions to help improve the game before it hits the live servers.
Just wanted to let you know that no petition is necessary, you will be able to acquire Treek via Cartel Market if you so choose. Having her be a part of the Legacy system allowed an avenue for players to get her without spending any of their Cartel Coins if they wanted!
Okay, as I mentioned in the above section, about the new companion, Eric posted this in the SWTOR forums. It looks like, as of now, that Treek can be acquired two different ways. One, through Legacy level 40 plus one million credits, or secondly, through buying the companion on the Cartel Market. As of now, we still do not know whether or not the Legacy level will still be required to use the companion to purchase through the Cartel Market. In fact, like I said before there are still several unknowns and it is still in testing, so things can change. I know there are multiple threads about this on the SWTOR forums. Some posts are constructive, while others are, well let’s say, not very constructive. BioWare has shown they are willing to make changes through suggestions players make through the testing process. If you feel strongly about this one way or the other, I suggest you try it out on the Public Test Server and then make an informed and constructive post on the PTS forum threads.

- SWTOR Music video
If you played KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic), then you had the pleasure of some swoop bike racing. Hmm, if there were swoop bike racing in SWTOR, we would need a spot on show to highlight the latest models of swoop bikes and racing tracks…maybe something like the TV show Top Gear. The following video does a great job of paying tribute to the BBCA show Top Gear. The video is a parody of the show using swoop bikes and a SWTOR race driver named “Slig,” that has a striking resemblance to Top Gear’s “Stig”
- Community Cantina questions needed
I will be attending the Community Cantina event coming to Chicago on August the 9th. I am looking for some good questions to ask the developers and community team members.
