Update 2.3.2, Legacy perk changes, Armored Tauntauns & more after the Jump…
- Patch Notes 2.3.2
Although Update 2.3.2 did not arrive without its bit of problems, there are a lot of good things to be found in this update. There have been some changes to the Bounty Contract Week event. Per player request, the reward for the Kingpin contracts has been modified to give players a purple reputation token upon turning in the completed contract. Now, because of the much larger reputation reward individual Kingpin contracts can only be completed one time during each Bounty Contract Week. The other big change to the event is in regards to those players that can take contracts on Hutta and Ord Mantell. Anyone level 27 or higher will NOT be allowed to take contracts on those two starter planets. This should help to relieve more of the congestion on those starter planets.
A unique change is happening on the Cartel Market, for a limited time players will be able to purchase the White/White color dye module for 1000 Cartel coins and the Black/Black color dye module for 2000 Cartel coins. It is not certain if this is to bring more of these two highly sought after dye color modules into the live game servers or possibly a test to see if players are willing to pay Cartel coins for a specific color if given the option. If you have some extra Cartel coins stockpiled and have been looking for these dye modules, here is your chance, all be it a somewhat expensive option.
The Black Talon and Esseles story mode Flashpoints have been added to the role neutral in the Group Finder. This means the first four players, no matter their role/advance class, will be grouped together if using the Group Finder tool. This is on the heels of the two Czerka based Flashpoints, which utilizes the role-neutral for their story mode selection when using the Group Finder. This should help speed up those players looking to run these first Flashpoints, especially since they are both able to be completed with two players and companions.
The other major changes found in this patch, has to do with changes to Legacy perks under travel. First, there were baseline and Legacy unlocks changes to the Fleet Pass ability:
-The base cooldown for the Fleet Pass ability is now 9 hours for subscribers.
-The base cooldown for the Fleet Pass ability is now 12 hours for non-subscribers.
-Legacy Fleet Pass I, II, and III now reduce the ability cooldown by 3 hours each.
Next, BioWare adjusted the Quick Travel ability and the Legacy unlocks associated with it:
-The base cooldown for subscribers is now 25 minutes.
-The base cooldown for non-subscribers is now 45 minutes.
-Legacy Travel I, II, and III now reduce the ability cooldown by 5 minutes each.
These are both great changes to the Fleet Pass and Quick Travel abilities. It is good to see BioWare offer added benefits to subscribers and those that have unlocked their Legacy perks. However, BioWare also added yet another Legacy unlock for players. There is now an option to unlock a Guild Bank terminal in your personal starship. This should be a big help to guild members. You can have one person place something in the Guild Bank on the Fleet and a crafter or someone that might benefit from an item placed in the Guild Bank can access the crafting material and/or item without having to travel to the Fleet first.
There are plenty of other notable items to be found in the patch notes for Update 2.3.2, be sure to read through them carefully.
- Super Secret Space Project Teaser
During the SWTOR Community Cantina in Seattle, we finally got a glimpse, all be it a short one, at the long talked about Super Secret Space Project. Here is the teaser video that was given out on thumbdrives during the Seattle Community cantina event.
Now, there is still soo many unknowns, but we can be sure of a couple things from even this short clip. One, both factions will be involved in the same location in space. Two, players are not piloting the class starships, which are used in all the other current space combat missions. Will this be space PVP? Will it remain an on-rails space shooter or will it be a something closer to the Jump to Lightspeed space combat that was in Star Wars Galaxies? These questions can be speculated all day long, but the Super Secret Space Project does exist; hopefully more of our questions will be answered in the coming weeks.
- Community Cantina coming to New York
This week on the official SWTOR website, it was announced the Community Cantina will be making a stop in New York. As with the other Community Cantina events, there will be a Q&A session, food/drinks and some giveaways. Not mention everyone that does attend the event will receive a Tauntaun Fawn code.

If you are close by, I would suggest making the trip and attending the Community Cantina event. I really enjoyed the one at Chicago, and I can’t wait to go to the next Community Cantina event that is close by. Don’t forget to head over to the Facebook event page to RSVP. Even though it is not necessary, it is a nice way to see who is going via the event page and also gives BioWare a rough estimate who all will be attending, so there will be plenty or codes and possible thumbdrives to handout.
- Update on Oricon Reputation rewards
In last week’s HoloNet Links, we talked about some of the rewards via the Oricon Reputation vendors. Since that time BioWare has released a few more items on the PTS. According to Dulfy’s updated article, there is a new HK-51 customization and new vanity pet – a Blood Drouk were both added to the reputation vendor. The other two items added are rewards for clearing the new Dread Fortress Op. The two items are called Strike Force Tauntaun.
They are armored Tauntaun animal mounts. Besides clearing the Dread Fortress Op, on any mode, a player will need to have Legend status in Oricon Reputation, this is according to Dulfy’s article. Bottom line, this is another way for players to receive an animal mount in SWTOR, along with the other items added to the reputation vendor. I am glad to see Operations get a reward that is not necessarily a drop. This means your Op team can all earn the new animal mounts together, instead of rolling against each other for the new mount.

EricMusco Today’s Maintenance and In-Game Cartel Coin Purchasing | 09.04.2013, 01:55 PM
I know we had quite a bit of down time today and now that we are back up you will notice our in-game Cartel Coin purchase feature is not live. I wanted to explain a bit about what happened now that the dust has settled, thank you all for your patience today!
During our maintenance when we were releasing Game Update 2.3.2, we discovered a couple of bugs related to the in-game purchasing system. The worst among them was an issue which could have affected a significant number of our players where even though they made a prior purchase, it was not being recognized towards their 50% off. Meaning that many of our subscribers who should have been able to jump right in and grab their next purchase in game for 50% off, couldn’t.
We worked to try to resolve that issue, among others, as fast as we could. Unfortunately, it became clear that there was no quick fix we could put in place and the system would need to be disabled. However, disabling a system is not a fast process either. It is the discovery of some issues, the attempt to fix it, and then the decision to disable the feature which made our maintenance take as long as it did.
Along with that, and I know this is the last thing anyone wants to hear right now, we will be having another maintenance early tomorrow morning. The reason for this maintenance is in part to remove the banner from the Cartel Market which announces in-game Cartel Coin purchase is available. Unfortunately, that is a change which will require us to patch the game.
The last thing of note that I have is that in very, very rare circumstances, some of you may actually still be able to use the in-game Cartel Coin purchase feature. If the feature is working, it will be fully disabled for you as well after our maintenance tomorrow. If you happen to be one of those players who discovered this and used it, don’t worry. It shouldn’t mess anything up.
I thank all of you again for your extreme patience today while we worked through these issues. Hopefully this post explains a bit about what happened today.
This was some bad news and also made the game inaccessible while servers were down for the extended maintenance. It sounds like it will be awhile before in-game Cartel purchases will be possible, in order to assure players that deserve it get their discount. Now, I fully understand that with any software, program, patch, update, etc. there will be bugs and unintended errors, but that brings up the question…why isn’t the Cartel Market put on the Public Test Server?
BioWare could give an allotment of Cartel Coins to anyone on the PTS and these players could buy items and test the items, unlocks dyes, etc. Another benefit would be using the Cartel Market for some players maybe a new experience, something they are trying for the first time. This could mean more might utilize the Cartel Market system in the live game and not to mention some of the bugs that could be avoided before they hit the live game. Those are just my opinions, but let us know what you think in the comment section below.

You are in fact reading the patch notes correctly. We really felt like these cool down Legacy Unlocks were underwhelming as they were, and wanted to really pep up their bonuses (along with an extra kicker for subscribers).

1. What Class is the character who isn’t getting conversations?
2. What level is the character who isn’t getting conversations?
3. What is their current affection level with Treek?
4. How was the Treek who is not providing conversations obtained? (via Cartel Market, credits, GTN, Collections)
5. Do you have any characters who have achieved conversations?

- SWTOR Fan Fiction
This week I came across another great example of the creativity found in the SWTOR community. In the official SWTOR Fan Fiction forum, I found the thread titled Slave Soldier by forum user CNS_Sarajevo. The story, as the author describes, is the back story for their Imperial Agent character. It is an interesting spin on a back story for someone that later rises in the Imperial ranks. The Black Ghost, the beginning chapter, does a great job of introducing the characters and displaying the place slaves or hired guns have next to that of the Sith.
Here is a small excerpt:
They were cannon fodder for pirate hunting. The Sith fought with the real army. He never thought he’d meet one of the ‘black ghosts,’ like they called them back home. Cartog saluted and bowed. “Sir,” he said.
The Sith chuckled. “The proper way to address a Sith is ‘my lord,’” it said.
“Apologies. My lord.” He bowed lower. The rest of the squad was standing behind him, not knowing what to do. “Bow, you morons!” he said. “
As far as the rest of the story, it is well developed and feels as though Cartog is in an even more desperate position than when he started until right at the end. The one minor exception would be the short final chapter, but even in its briefness it leads right into the Imperial Agent’s story. I urge you to read the entire story of Cartog, the Slave Soldier.
