The Test of the Busy Buffet

You are at an all-you-can-eat buffet. You just finished a nice round of salad and soup when you decide to go back to get some dessert. The dessert area is at the end of the buffet table. The restaurant is suddenly very crowded and the line is really long and dense at the buffet. Do you:

  1. Get in the back of the line. It isn’t polite to cut.
  2. Ask the people towards the end of the line if they are okay with you sneaking in and grabbing some pudding.
  3. Take an opening when you see it, slip in, get some pudding, and get out. Fast and easy-like.

Tip of the Week

Legacy smuggling

Three practical uses for it:

  1. Shifting gear after upgrades to alts with the same stat requirements
  2. Buying PvP pieces with a main that is geared, sending it to alts.
  3. Cartel market color crystal replication (not for profit, not against the rules)

What can be smuggled:

  • Armor mods
  • Main hand barrels and hilts
  • Offhand hilts from Sentinel to Marauder and back
  • Augments

What can’t be smuggled:

  • Off-hand barrels and armorings

  1. Hey guys,

Just thought I’d comment, cause I can’t be the only one thinking this. Carla, I love everything you do for the community and as a host, but your ignorance about the class specs and the changes coming to them in the recent episodes has been nothing short of painful to listen to. It’s a little funny how you valiantly defend your healing operative (which is the most OP healer in game by far) but if you’re gonna get upset about class changes, please do more research so you know what you’re talking about. And this is just constructive criticism, cause I love your show, but you’ve really been coming off as very negative lately. I can appreciate a devil’s advocate, but you need to know what you’re talking about in order to make a cogent argument. I know you have a huge amount of MMO experience, but I would just take into consideration how little you really know about class balance in SWTOR, and change your arguments accordingly. Looking forward to the next show! Take care.

  2. Hey Hash,
Thank you for listening! I’m a big girl. I don’t have all the answers, so I certainly appreciate constructive feedback. I will go back to see what you are talking about on some of the class changes. I usually don’t comment too much unless it is something I have looked into. I will always defend the operative healer though! LOL Honestly, I didn’t have a problem with the upcoming patch about our cover ability. Like I stated, I don’t use it anyway. Keep that feedback coming! We don’t know if something isn’t working if you don’t let us know. -Carla

  3. Yeah, Hash, thanks for commenting! We do love feedback, even constructive criticism. 🙂

I will be the first to say that I don’t have the answers to everything. I don’t think a lot of us as gamers really know what goes into class balance. What seems like the “obvious fix” can vary with different perspectives. It is an intricate web. Heck, even professional developers are surprised by some of the things we do with a spec.

Also, it should be noted that a majority of Carla’s PvP knowledge is pre-2.4 on these last podcasts, since it hasn’t been out for very long; the arenas have changed a lot of things, in a very short time, or rather made needed changes obvious to many. Also, Madness Sorcs used to be great pre-2.0, but now they aren’t. I still remember panicking when I heard the “whomph whomph” sound of Crushing Darkness on me, but now I just hit Dodge and lose all my DoTs or wait for it to be cleansed.

All that to say is, it is easy for us as gamers to remember PvP experiences we had months ago as new experiences. Old habits (like me being scared of Crushing Darkness, or Sage healing being the king of turret defense warzone healing) die hard.

But thanks again for the comments! Glad you generally enjoy the show 🙂

    Cheers,
    Drew

  4. Thanks for the replies guys! Yea I definitely still enjoy the show, and I’m glad you realize that my previous post wasn’t meant to rail on you guys at all. Just something I noticed, and wanted to point out. I’ll still always be a faithful listener! Oh yea, and your views on the holiday update match my own exactly. I was so excited for holiday stuff, then, ohhh… 🙁 Keep up the good work.
