HoloNet Links #122
Update 2.4.3 has been live since this past Tuesday, the 12th. We now have our official Season One of Ranked PVP going on, new Leaderboards, and the return of the Bounty Contract week event going through November 19th. I am personally eager to get back to gaming, after being off due to an injury, but that can’t keep me down forever, especially when there is SWTOR to be playing! How has your gaming been going lately? Are you excited about the changes in latest update? I’m no PVPer, but I’m already hooked on the new Leaderboard system. Okay, enough chit-chat let’s get into the links!
New Community Cantina added, Drew discusses Leaderboards & more after the Jump…
- PVP Season one – dev blog
It is here finally…Season One of Ranked PVP! I think that had to be the longest preseason to any sport, ever. With Patch 2.4.3 now live, as of Tuesday, November the 12th’s update, the first season is underway.
Okay, so what does it mean now there is an official season going on? Good question, but thanks to Rob Hinkle, from BioWare, he has posted a great dev blog all about what you can except from season play in ranked PVP. He briefly talks about Leaderboards, which you can find as a new tab on the official SWTOR game website. Rob also talks about rewards, exclusive for each PVP season and finally he discusses about breaks in between Ranked PVP seasons. He hints, in his closing, that this is just the start to Ranked PVP and there will be more refinements and changes as they continue to make it better. Be sure to read Rob’s dev blog all about Season One Ranked PVP.
- SWTOR Leaderboards
Yes, there are Leaderboards…finally! As Rob Hinkle mentioned in the latest dev blog, Leaderboards came online with Update 2.4.3. You can click on the following link to see the current Leaderboard. As you can see, the Leaderboard is divided first in Solo and Group Ranked PVP. Next you will notice under of those divisions, each advance class and its mirrored advance class on the opposing faction are grouped into their own Leaderboard.
Now, since this is all new and I’m no PVPer, I decided to get some answers from our own PVP guru Geldarion aka Drew. He was kind enough to take some time to answer the following four questions:
1) Are you glad to see the web based leaderboards for ranked PVP?
I am. I think that some kind of horizontal progression will help keep interest in Ranked Warzones. I hope it is enough to keep the queues popping.
2) What do you like about the leaderboards? What do you dislike about them?
I love that they are separated by class. Due to the current class imbalance, it would be difficult to measure say, a Commando healer against a Scoundrel healer. There just really isn’t a competition there. I dislike that it is not server specific. You can click on the server to get it filtered down, but I really hope that Bioware decides to give rewards based on server, not on the entire board. Because of the fact that servers like the Bastion will always have good queue pops, and servers like the Harbinger will eventually die down (hopefully not, but probably will), there will be a discrepancy between the highest scores of one server and the highest scores of others.
3) Are there other stats (like avg. damage, avg, healing etc.) that should be put on the leaderboards?
Absolute numbers like avg. damage, avg. healing, and avg. protection are not really good indicators of skill in PVP. Efficient burst is better than high damage for example. What would be good is things like Win/Loss ratio, games played, # of times you’ve won in two rounds, etc. Things that actually indicate track record. Highest rating, highest team rating defeated, and kill/death ratio would be good too…Basically, real PVP stats.
4) Would you like to see guilds factor into the leaderboard system in some way?
Absolutely! It is a bragging rights thing! It seems like BW keeps getting close, but not quite. There absolutely needs to be a guild tag! For instance, I saw that there were two people of my guild in the top 15 on my server, and I love that! I just wish it would show it!
Thanks Drew! What would your answers be to these questions about Leaderboards for Ranked PVP Season play? Let us know in the comment section. We would love to hear your responses.

- Dev Notes
We’ll be keeping an eye on this to see if it’s an issue exclusive to you or if others are seeing this as well when using the VIP Workbench!
Have you attempted a repair on your launcher to ensure you don’t have any file corruption? If not, please attempt that.
Since the new update, there has been added VIP Workbenches to both fleets. However, it seems that some players are running into issues with the Workbenches not working. I would suggest to try running the repair tool, as Amber mentioned above, found on the launcher. If after using the repair tool, you are still having issues, be sure to document, in the bug ticket, as much detail as possible concerning what you were doing at the time the bug/glitch happened with the Workbench.
EricMusco Incoming Known Issue – Advanced Yellow Blue Color Crystal | 11.11.2013, 03:40 PM
I wanted to let you know about a known issue that is coming with our Opportunist Bounty Pack this week. There is a new color crystal in the pack called the Advanced Yellow Blue Crystal. When you preview the item it looks very yellow and blue, very. However, when you equip the item, depending on the lighting the yellow can look a lot less distinct.
We wanted to make sure that you guys were aware of the color differential in case you want to “chase” after the item. We will also be placing this on the known issues list.
Thanks, Eric, for the heads up on the color variance. Be sure to realize they are working on this issue and it is already in the known issues list. Hopefully it will be patched soon. My advice would to not equip this crystal till after a patch/fix has been put into the live game.

- SWTOR music videos
The video creator FireFlower is back with another music video. This one is just as high quality as the previous ones I have seen and shared in other articles, but as the creator states in the about section on Youtube, “This was my first video where the ENTIRE video was filmed in game with only 1 cut scene.” Once you see the video, it will become evident the amount of time it must have taken to get the proper shots and then the editing. The music is by Peratus and the song title is “Wrought.” According to the creator there will be a follow-up video to finish the story in this video. Without further aido, I present the SWTOR music video “Wrought.”
That’s all for this week! If you have a particular link, story, video, or topic related to SWTOR we would love to hear about it! You can send those to us here at Corellian Run Radio and we can place it in a future article. Just email us the links and/or the details for the event at firstname.lastname@example.org, or you can also leave any link suggestions in the comments below, or in Corellian Run Radio’s Facebook group. See you all next week!
