HoloNet Links #138

Currently many of you are probably checking your March Madness college basketball bracket.  How have you been doing? Personally, I have been doing pretty well through the first day or day in the tournament. As wild and crazy as that can get, there was another form of “Madness” hit the SWTOR community. It started with the official announcement of Galactic Strongholds, which is the term in SWTOR for Player Housing.

Strongholds dates/rewards, Boston Cantina event & more after the Jump…

BioWare looks to score big with Galactic Strongholds

As awesome as it was to have BioWare make an official announcement about the Galactic Strongholds, there was another term mentioned in the announcement…Legacy Storage.

swtor-bank1I’m sure some are thinking, “He has lost his ever, loving mind.” Seriously, Legacy Storage is something I cannot wait to see in SWTOR. Yes, it is true we do not have all the details, but I’m being optimistic about the implementation of a storage space that can be shared between characters in your Legacy. Don’t get me wrong, I am excited for the Player Strongholds and Guild Flagships, but Legacy Storage is a serious Quality of Life issue being addressed by BioWare. In my opinion, this shows me that they are not just sitting back coasting, but creating new systems/elements for gameplay and how to make that gameplay better. Keep up the great work BioWare.

  • SWTOR Community Cantina heading to Boston

On Friday April 11th, 2014, the SWTOR Community Cantina will be arriving at the Hyatt Regency Boston. This will be the first Community Cantina event since the official announcement of Galactic Strongholds. I am very curious to hear the Q&A from this event. If any of you are in the Boston area and have some time, I would suggest going to this event. Besides the fun, complimentary food/drinks, and Q&A; each one in attendance will receive a code for the astromech pet, M8-3R. For further information on the event be sure to read to the post from the SWTOR website and also look at the event’s time and location.

RobHinkle Allow us a place to test/preview (warzone) bolster | 03.20.2014, 08:01 AM

This is definitely something I want to try to get into the game, along with a target dummy that utilizes expertise so players can actually do PvP damage parses.
I don’t have a target game update for these changes yet, however. Not in 2.7 is all I know right now.

Nice example of how a constructive question or idea can lead to helping make SWTOR better. Kudos to Evuo for submitting their question/idea for having a way for PVP’ers to have an area or a test dummy setting strictly to help gauge your damage with regards to PVP stats. Above you can read Rob Hinkle’s response about wanting to have this in-game. However there is not a target date when this might be added to the game. Keep those constructive forum posts coming.

EricMusco Watch New Galactic Strongholds Announcement Trailer | 03.19.2014, 12:51 PM

Hey folks,
Just to answer two questions I have seen in the thread…
Why the value difference between the pre-order Nar Shaddaa Sky Palace bonus and the early access cost of the Nar Shaddaa Sky Palace?
It is actually fairly simple. The base cost of the Nar Shaddaa Sky Palace is 250k Credits. The cost of the three additional rooms is what makes up the remaining 1.25 million that is a part of the pre-order bonus.

If I already killed a boss that has a Stronghold reward (such as Karagga) will I need to kill him again to get the reward?
Although this is a great question we are not quite ready to talk details on the various methods of item unlocks, etc. We will have a blog in the future that outlines more about how the system works and how it will affect previously cleared content.

Eric Musco helps answer some questions players had concerning Galactic Strongholds. First off he discusses the cost of the Nar Shaddaa Sky Palace Stronghold. I love that he mentions it costs 250k credits. That is right credits, not reputation tokens, or Cartel Coins. The more options on how players can pay for certain features or “fluff” items, seems to make sense. The other issue Eric talks about is trophies/achievements. Eric states that although we can see in the video, some trophies/medals, BioWare at this time is not ready to talk about all the features and how it is perceived.

  • SWTOR Music video

This week’s video is another guild recruitment video. Youtube user Axurion Exeiro has posted a music video for the SWTOR guild Amersu. The video starts off brilliantly as if it were a trailer for an upcoming movie. The combination of gameplay footage and in-game cutscenes are edited together nicely. I also liked the use of audio from Twi’lek NPCs in SWTOR. The music in the beginning gives it great scope and a heroic feeling. Later in the video it switches to more pop style music and during this part is where the different aspects of the guild are highlighted. All in all a really good video and serves its purpose of being entertaining as well as being a recruiting tool for their guild. Check out the video below and let us know what you think.
