HoloNet Links #160

Wishing all of you a Happy Labor Day weekend, at least those of you in the United States…Time to enjoy the last holiday weekend in summer. It is a chance to barbeque, swim, and sit out under the shade tree…oh, of course extra time to play SWTOR! Seriously, it is hard to believe we are talking about the last part of summer. Things are moving fast in SWTOR also. Less than two weeks away Update 2.10 is scheduled to launch September 9th. How many are excited to see part three of the Forged Alliance story arc?

More about Manaan, dev notes, SWTOR video all after the Jump…

Speaking of Update 2.10, the PTS which was testing it is shut down again. You can check out the forum thread link. Sneaky BioWare did not let anyone see the new chapter in the story arc or the new Tactical Flashpoint. What, we will have brand new content in the game without spoilers or guides? At least for the first few hours till the guides get posted. Aside from that aspect, I am really looking forward to the final chapter in this story arc. So far it has been a very compelling and probably the best story next to the class stories. Where will the story take SWTOR? What changes do you foresee happening in the story? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.

  • Dev Blog

The newest Developer’s Blog has elements surrounding some characters found in the Forged Alliances story arc. The blog gave us some story, more behind the scenes. Two characters are discussing Jakarro and C2-D4, the Wookiee and droid from Manaan Flashpoint. I don’t really want to ruin the story, but by the end somebody is in carbonite. Be sure to read the new Developer Blog to learn more.

  • Livestream of Manaan Flashpoint

Thursday’s Community Livestream was all about the new Tactical Flashpoint located on Manaan. This was a relative short stream, but it was great getting the perspective of story and boss mechanics. The two developers with Eric Musco offered their insight into these areas. Charles Boyd, lead writer, and Matt Pucevich, Ops designer, co-hosted the stream this past Thursday. Charles wrote the Republic side of the Manaan story and Matt worked on the design population of the flashpoint. Matt also was the one doing the play though during the stream. If you haven’t watched the video from the livestream, please be aware that there are potential spoilers found in it. However, if a few spoilers don’t bother you the video is a great first look as to how the flashpoint works.

WARING…the link for the Manaan Flashpoint contains some spoilers. You have been warned.

TaitWatsonConquest Exploit Farming – Battle of Ilum (Is it an exploit? Or just boring farming?) | 08.28.2014, 12:01 PM

Hey all,
I brought this to the attention of the team, and discovered that this is a bug – Flashpoint Conquest Objectives are intended to be one-time only, not infinitely repeatable. The only Flashpoint Objectives that can be repeated are the Group Finder ones – and those can only be done when you have the Daily Mission for the Group Finder available.
We will be releasing 2.9c tomorrow morning to address this issue. There will be a maintenance post made later today with the full information.
Thanks,
Tait

We’re going to put it into 2.9c, which we’re applying tomorrow morning.

The three previous dev posts are obliviously connected. As a result of players cutting corners, based largely that there were no limitations already setup, Flashpoints will be changed as far as scoring for Conquest events. It has been said that they will not be repeatable for Conquest Objectives. Does this mean not repeatable at all or the specific objectives like defeat a certain boss as part of an objective cannot be repeated? Regardless it is safe to say if you didn’t have your points in already it might be difficult to catch up. The thread example of how players were “stealthing” or using mounts to get past all the mobs in a Flashpoint just to get to a certain boss or final boss for Conquest points. I find that tends to be an exploit more than running the same Flashpoint as much as players want to. I’m okay with limits, but I think BioWare needs to realize any gamer will go the more efficient path. Look how patterns get established to by-pass certain trash mobs. Are those mobs skipped because they cannot be defeated? No. The mobs are generally skipped because a player’s time in game is precious, so if there is a way to achieve the goal quicker players will almost always go this route. Be sure to read the patch notes.

TaitWatsonCircular Signs: Class | 08.28.2014, 08:59 AM

Hey folks!
Someone messaged me about this thread, so I looked into it for you. These signs DO come from Class Achievements, however they are currently not hooked up (which is why you don’t have them unlocked yet). We are going to get that fixed, but I currently don’t know which update it will be in.
Sorry for the confusion!
Tait

I was wondering which vendor or crafting schematic was making these, since I could not find it under achievements. Glad to hear this will be fixed, but was hoping it would be a possible quick fix. I can be patient and wait for it to be added to the game. Have you found other items missing or unavailable decorations? Let us know in the comment section below. Perhaps someone has been looking for the same item or knows where to find it.

  • SWTOR video

HunterFireFlower has another SWTOR video. This one is not a laughing matter…okay maybe it is. It deals with the lure and addiction of the Nar Shaddaa casinos. She goes into how the thrill of the next credit sent her spiraling down losing millions of credits and more. Take time to watch this important video. The credits you save might just be your own.
