HoloNet Links #170

Hello SWTOR Community! Yes, this week’s HoloNet Links is coming to you earlier. This Thursday is Thanksgiving for those of us in the United States of America. That being the case I’m getting the article posted early to enjoy the holiday with my family. Not only is “turkey time,” but the expansion will be out in less than five days for Early Access! How excited are you for the arrival of the Shadow of Revan?

New trailer for Shadow of Revan, Twitch stream info & more after the Jump…

  • Revan Returns Trailer

On November 24th, 2014, BioWare released the second trailer for the upcoming expansion Shadow of Revan. This latest trailer has more of a darker tone, in my opinion. It shows that Revan will push the galaxy to the brink and maybe beyond. This video reveals more of those vowing to fight for Revan. They appear loyal, devoted to Revan’s cause and not mindless rabble. There seems to be scenes from possible Flashpoint and Operation cinematics. Oh and there is a walker near the end of the trailer…is it Kephess? lol Check out the trailer and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

  • SWTOR Twitch Stream & Discipline blog

Be sure to tune into the official SWTOR Twitch stream latest livestream event. Wednesday, November 26st, 2014 at 4pm CST, BioWare will be showing the combat changes coming in 3.0 for the Smugglers/Agents. Tune in to the last in the Discipline Twitch streams.

While you wait to view the new Twitch livestream be sure to read up on the changes coming in 3.0 for Gunslingers and Snipers. BioWare posted another Discipline blog on the official SWTOR website. It appears to be several changes to these mirrored advances, as well as the individually specs. As someone who plays a Marksmanship Sniper, I think overall the changes look good. There will be an adjustment period for sure. The one change I am puzzled about is Snipers/Gunslingers losing the ability to purge hostile effects. This will make some boss fights interesting during Operations.

Be sure to read through this latest blog and let us know what you think about the changes coming in 3.0.

EricMusco Commendations in 3.0 | 11.25.2014, 10:45 AM

Here goes everyone. Here is the information on the conversion rates around Basic Comms and what will happen when 3.0 launches. Just to reiterate for those unaware, here are the basic changes coming to Commendations:

  • All PvE Commendations will become Basic Commendations in 3.0.
  • The Commendation types “Classic” and “Planetary” are being removed from the game.
  • The types “Elite” and “Ultimate” will remain but the current Comms you have will become Basic.
  • Warzone and Ranked Warzone Commendations remain untouched.

Here are the conversion rates for all Commendations.

  • 2 Classic Commendations = 1 Basic Commendation
  • 1 Basic Commendation = 1 Basic Commendation
  • 1 Elite Commendation = 2 Basic Commendations
  • 1 Planetary Commendation = 3 Basic Commendations
  • 1 Ultimate Commendation = 3 Basic Commendations

The Basic Commendation cap will remain at 1000. However, when the conversions happen we will allow you to go up to 2000 Commendations. Note that until you go below 1000 again, you will be unable to earn any Basic Commendations. This includes if you buy an item and try to refund it. You must go below 1000 before you can earn more.
There ya go folks! All of the details and conversion rates on Basic Comms in 3.0.

Thanks Eric for getting the conversion on comms posted. Things look pretty standard for an expansion change. There will be a conversion so that all PVE comms will become Basic comms. It is interesting that one Planetary comms will equal three Basic. I guess that the small limit helps to balance this part of the conversion. Personally, I’m more interested in seeing what will be offered in the vendors and how far my extra Basic comms will stretch when the new expansion goes live.

  • Star Wars Mashup video

Have you seen any of the video series, Super Power Beat Down? It is a video series that pits various matches between popular heroes across all genres in 1 vs. 1 battles. These productions are live-action and feature some very cool special effects, despite not a Hollywood budget. The newest one that has been featured on the internet pits Batman, the Dark Knight versus Darth Vader.

I could easily breakdown this battle having watched this video several times, but you need to see it for yourself. Like or hate the outcome, the battle itself was well thought out and showcased the strengths of each of these iconic characters. After you watch the battle, be sure to comment below and let us know what you thought of the fight. Do you think they got the winner right?
