  • New SWTOR video

Earlier this week BioWare teased the new “Choose your Path” video. There was quite a buzz surrounding what content this video might cover. The tease via the official Old Republic Twitter account stated those subscribed to the official SWTOR YouTube channel would be the first to view this new video coming in approximately 24 hours.

The next day around 24-28 hours after the Twitter post the video was uploaded to the SWTOR YouTube channel. The video, as it was posted, was actually fairly well edited utilizing several cutscenes from the Sith Warrior and Jedi Knight storylines. The point of the video was to show the Light and Dark decisions a player has the ability to make as they play SWTOR. Here is the video for you to check out, if you have not seen it already.

The main issue and reason, I believe there was some backlash to this video was the tease on the official Twitter account. Normally a video advertising the game is posted via all the social media outlets without the 24 hour build-up. The tease, while useful to gain interest, was perceived as misleading. Some players viewed the tease for the video, as potentially meaning information on new or future content. The video is not a bad thing and it is good BioWare is advertising their game. The game needs to generate interest that leads to subscriptions or at the very least new people to try the game as Free-to-Play and possibly lead to Cartel Market purchases etc. As a business they need and should try and make money. However while advertising/marketing the game BioWare needs to always be aware how every communication might potential be perceived. Chalk this up to another learning experience BioWare.

  • The Cantina blog: Manaan, Manaan Doot-Doot-Do-Do-Do

The Cantina bannerAs I do most every week, I was going through various social media sources to see what was going on in the SWTOR community and I came across a new blog to me, The Cantina. The latest blog post is all about where the author believes the next Stronghold will be located. The author, Darkbrew (his Twitter handle), discusses the mention in the 2015 Roadmap of a new Stronghold coming this year.

Where will the new Stronghold be? Darkbrew believes it will be located on the Core World planet, Alderaan. He states that besides being centrally located, a Core World, the main thing is the planet has remained relatively pristine in this time of a Galactic War. He is right, Alderaan is beautiful. I can imagine having a Stronghold with a picturesque view of the mountains.

Darkbrew next gives the reader his pick for his dream locale for the next Stronghold. If he could put it on any planet, he states he would pick… Well to find out his pick you need to head over to The Cantina blog and read Darkbrew’s post.

  • Ravalation: Diary of a Gamer Girl

It is a blog special this week, I have a second SWTOR community blog for the same low price as last week. This next blog is known as Ravalation: Diary of a Gamer Girl. First off, I love the setup of Rav’s blog. It has that newspaper “feel” and I also enjoy her humor. Oh yeah, she can write…hmm, funny how that helps attracting readers, but it’s true.

Speaking of her writing, she has a great guide for one of the new HM Flashpoints, Blood Hunt. The guide has some easy to understand keys to every fight. Each major fight has been broken down to things known in the article as applied tactics. These applied tactics are around four to five things her group used like information about: adds, dangers to avoid, and kill orders. There are also videos for almost every section, plus an approximate 50 minute video showing all the major fights, wipes and victories during their first HM Blood Hunt Flashpoint attempt. At the end of the guide she has a nice conclusion. It contains her thoughts after her first attempt in this Hardmode Flashpoint, plus a few final tips to help you all get the most out of this version of Blood Hunt.

After you get done reading her guide and taking down the HM Blood Hunt Flashpoint for yourself, be sure to head over to Ravalation: Diary of a Gamer Girl, to check out all her great articles on SWTOR, LOTRO, Game Fashion, Guides and more.

Please let us know if you have a particular link, story, video, or topic related to SWTOR we would love to hear about it! You can send those to us here at Corellian Run Radio and we can place it in a future article. Just email us the links and/or the details for the event at corellianrun@gmail.com, or you can also leave any link suggestions in the comments below, or in Corellian Run Radio’s Facebook group. See you next week!
