Rise of the Emperor hit the live game this past Tuesday, April, 28th, 2015. Along with the new planet and added story, Costume Designer also arrived for players to have more options for character outfits without having to change mods every time. The other Quality of Life changes have to do with in-game travel changes to speeders making all adaptive, quick travel time reduction and quick travel points unlocking easier.

Minor editorial on Update 3.2 Rise of the Emperor:
As many of you know I’m a PVE carebear, but that is my choice. In the latest update that choice was removed for some of those in SWTOR. If you are on a PVP server and go to Ziost you will see plenty of players on the opposing faction, but they will not appear “red” to you. Is this a mechanical bug? No, you could even try and flag yourself, but your character will only go to green.
I get that people don’t like to get ganked during story elements. That said almost every major story quest is instanced and would prevent and ganking happening. Yes, the in-game area for Ziost feels smallish with the urban setting. Again, I am a PVE’er and don’t claim to be otherwise. If my choice to play in the PVE setting was removed from me, I would not be happy. While some might think this is a minor thing, these players that play on a PVP server, play there by choice. Is their choice to play on a certain type of server any less?
BioWare can make an area or planet neutral, that they choose. I would tend to place Ziost firmly in Empire control. There is also a spoiler that would reinforce that Ziost is in Empire control. The biggest issue would be making a change and not communicating it with the player base. More communication is always better. This tends to prepare everyone for changes. It is never good to have people learning about these changes as they are playing the game.
Supposedly, there will be a change on May the 4th and PVP servers will again be able to freely gank the opposing faction on Ziost. We will have to wait and see. I welcome other people’s point of views on this issue. You can leave your opinions or thoughts on this issue in the comment section below.
- SWTOR Rise of the Emperor trailer
BioWare posted last Friday afternoon the Rise of the Emperor trailer. This trailer was first shown at the Star Wars Celebration Cantina event in Anaheim, CA. I really like this trailer and the focus being put on, of course, the Emperor. Only thing I would change about this trailer, I would have plastered it on every possible site dealing with SWTOR two to three weeks before Update 3.2 went live in-game. Planetary Status Monitor | Still no progression in Ziost story available ? | 04.29.2015, 03:28 PM
I have seen some questions and theories around what will happen with Ziost on Monday. I thought I would pop in and let you know (spoiler free!) what to expect. At 8AM PDT on Monday, May the 4th, is when the conclusion of Game Update 3.2 will become available. What you will get access to at that point is:
- The ending cinematics for the Rise of the Emperor storyline from Game Update 3.2
- A new area of Ziost
- New daily quests
- A new Lair Boss
- A new World Boss
That should give a good idea of exactly what to expect on Monday morning. See you all on Ziost!
There has been much posted and said about the current rollout of Ziost. Many were questing right along on Ziost, when all the sudden a mission on the space station will not start. At first, nobody knew exactly what was going on. Was there something that needed to be unlocked before moving on? It was puzzling and then it became frustrating for some.
To be honest, players not knowing that there would be a stopping point till the May 4th date heightened the frustration. I think that the idea of different ways to roll out content is great, and developers should be applauded for attempting to break out of the rut. However, not properly communicating this stoppage in gameplay is not a smart decision.
I have played through the current available content on one of my toons. For the most part, I am pleased with the story elements and one particular quest has a new fun mechanic. I thought it might be a bit short, but good story. The downside was having a mission that I was unable to finish. Granted, I had an idea where the story would stop by the time I logged in to play. It seems like mine and many other gamers’ frustration could have been avoided by letting players know ahead of time. One of the things we tried to be clear about with the Ravagers is that we are serious about handling exploits. With that exploit, the Ravagers we were open about our process and the action we were taking. For this issue with Ziost, we are going to do the same.
If a player is bypassing the environment to access an area they should not be able to, and then killing a boss to get loot they should also not have access to, we absolutely consider this an exploit. We are investigating this issue right now, and will be actioning any player who participates, or has participated, in this exploit.
If you ever hear of or find something that can be exploited, do not test it yourself. Please notify us immediately and privately. Some of you brought this issue to our attention on PTS and we thank you for that. We closed that opening, but it seems that there is another method of getting into the area.
We would also like to thank those of you who did not exploit and who have brought this to our attention. Our goal will always be to create a safe and fair environment for our players.

As I mentioned earlier this morning, we very quickly isolated what the exploit entailed and began an investigation into players who have participated. As of now, we have identified those unique accounts which have gone into the blocked off area of Ziost, and killed one of the two bosses present. For each of these players, they will receive a minimum of the following action:
- Multiple day suspension
- Removal of all gear earned through defeating those bosses
- Removal of all achievements earned through defeating those bosses
- Reduction in Elite and Ultimate Commendations
We will continue to monitor the blocked off area of Ziost throughout Monday, May the 4th, which is when it opens officially. Any player who is found to participate in this exploit beyond today’s notice will likely receive more aggressive action. Thank you all for bringing this to our attention.
The staggered release of content has presented another issue. Since there is no update needed for next bit of content the code is already there. This means the bosses for next part are live just hidden. The saying, “curiosity killed the cat” well for some curious gamers not wanting to wait till May 4th went after hidden bosses.
Kidding and analogies aside circumventing rules and boundaries in the game is an exploit. BioWare being true to their word after the Ravagers exploit they are coming down on exploiters. As you can read from the above dev posts, there will be suspensions, gear removal, removal of achievements and reduction in Elite and/or Ultimate comms for defeating current unavailable content.
I do not agree with the way staggered content was implemented, but utilizing exploits are not the answer. Monday will be here soon, so sit back run your toons through current content on Ziost and get ready Star Wars day May 4th.

This week we have another SWTOR music video. This one is focused on one particular dance emote that emulates the real life Cupid Shuffle dance. There is no in-depth story, but that does not take away from this video. The quality of the camera and edits make this video worth seeing. Not to mention it is a fun video that is very entertaining.
