HoloNet Links #221

One week till the new Star Wars movie comes to theaters! I am super excited. As a Star Wars fan, it always seems a good time, but starting this year and throughout the release of the new trilogy it will most likely grow even more. That growth should be reflected in all forms of media including video games. I’m sure that there will be movie tie-ins almost everywhere you look. How would you feel about some form of a movie tie-in in SWTOR? What is something you would like to possibly see? Let us know in the comment section.

Time to get into the rest of the links after the Jump…

  • Patch Notes 4.0.3

Tuesday the latest update went live. This update contained several changes and fixes. There are many different areas BioWare looked to update/fix. I won’t go through every fix, but I suggest you look through the patch notes, especially in the section relating to changes with some classes/advance classes.

First off, one fix I knew was coming, but sad to see it was the no repair bill bug.

Fixed an issue where equipment wouldn’t suffer durability loss.

All good things must come to an end right? Sadly the end has come for not having to pain to repair equipment after death.

Below I have listed a few of the changes/fixes I noticed:

All Event-related Decoration are now Bind on Pickup.

This is a very puzzling change. Why make these decos bind on pickup? There doesn’t seem to be any benefit outside of being able to sell them on the GTN. The downside is that it forces players to use the deco and then pay credits in order for the Guild to be able to be able to utilize the deco.

Unbound Loot Boxes can once again be placed in Legacy Cargo Holds.

I believe this is the Cartel Packs items like armor boxes etc. Before this patch they were not able to be placed in Legacy Cargo Hold, but now it seems this issue has been resolved.

Utility Points no longer reset after committing them and closing the Combat Proficiencies window.

Halleluiah! This has been a much needed fix. Many of those who switch their specs and utilities depending on the boss fight have been wanting this fixed for a while. Thank you BioWare for fixing this issue.

Players who have completed Chapter I of Knights of the Fallen Empire now have access to Darth Marr as a Stronghold Decoration.

This is a neat gesture from BioWare to have Darth Marr available to players for their Strongholds.

As you can see below, Dread Palace had some adjustments to the loot drops. Hopefully this will help get the proper loot distributed to those Op groups running DP.

Dread Palace loot has been redistributed:

  • 8-Player Hard Mode Dread Master Council now drops a Chest Piece token.
  • 16-Player Story Mode and 16-Player Hard Mode Dread Master Bestia now drops a bracers token
  • 16-Player Story Mode Dread Master Calphayus now drops a Head Piece slot.
  • Dread Master Calphayus now drops gear of the correct Item Level.

EricMusco Item Stack Resale Exploit | 12.09.2015, 05:19 PM

Hey folks,
Here is the first update on use of the stacked item sale exploit. As of this afternoon we have sent out our initial set of warnings, suspensions, and permanent bans for accounts participating in this exploit. I say initial, because it was important to action the accounts and prevent any further damage to the economy.
During their suspension time we will be continuing to investigate any account involved, and taking further action based on the egregious level of the offense. These actions can include:

  • Further suspension time, up to and including permanent ban
  • Removal of all credits
  • Removal of all commendations
  • Resetting of all Influence gained with Companions
  • Resetting of all influence gained with Base Commanders
  • Removal of items purchased or gained via exploit

Although you may hear that many people participated, it was rather a small group who were very egregious in their actions. In the future, I hope we see even less individuals using exploits, and simply just report them to the team. Thank you to the majority of you who reported it to us and avoided its use. I will continue to provide updates as I have them.

Although the details are not there in the post, it is clear that BioWare is not joking around with exploits. The post does clearly state the steps BioWare went to with those accounts thought to be associated with this activity. Not to mention suspensions, but during the time the account is suspended there might be more actions taken against that account. I think this hardline action against those carrying out an exploit and the timely fashion are how BioWare should continue to deal with exploiters.

EricMusco NiM Loot Issue / Update | 12.07.2015, 11:21 AM

Hey folks,
I have a few updates to pass on regarding the current issues with Nightmare Loot Drops. First, we discovered there is a bug with the percentage chance of a 224 rated item dropping in any of our Nightmare Operations. We plan to address this when we release Chapter 10 (Game Update 4.1) scheduled in February. If we are able to address it sooner, I’ll pass along an update.
Aside from that, we realized that we need to make a correction to our Operations and Flashpoints in Fallen Empire blog. Currently it states the following:

Nightmare Mode will also be available for all the Operations that had it previously, and will reward the same as the highlighted Hard Mode, as well as the unique mounts and titles available currently.

This statement is in error and needs to be corrected. When running a Nightmare Operation, there is a chance that a 224 item can drop, but it is not a guaranteed drop like the highlighted Hard Mode is. Nightmare Mode Operations will still drop their unique mounts and titles, and once fixed there is a chance to get 224 gear from them. It is by design that the best and most consistent way to gear up in Operations is to run the highlighted Hard Mode each week. Although they did certainly want to make sure there was a chance for greater reward from Nightmare!
We apologize for any confusion and will make sure that the blog is updated to reflect the correct information. I will pass on any further updates as I have them.

loot chest1Okay, before I comment on this post, I am not a Nightmare level raider. With that disclaimer stated, what are you thinking BioWare? I get adding the High Priority Hard mode Op for the week. It is a nice addition and gives something to those raiders that gear up for the harder endgame content. However, I believe the best gear in the game, as far as PVE, should be found in the hardest content, which would be Nightmare Operations.

I don’t like to be negative. Just to test my thoughts on this post from BioWare on loot, I asked my mother. She is a non-gamer, so has nothing in this fight, but her reply was the best gear should be in the hardest content. Okay, I get that there is a chance to get 224 gear in Nightmare, but shouldn’t one piece drop on every defeated boss? In the other modes, Story mode drops one piece of 216 unassembled gear per boss and Hardmode (not high priority target) drops one piece of 220 unassembled gear per boss. I would love to understand the reasoning for Nightmare bosses not dropping one piece of 224 unassembled gear. If this remains the same, which I know the change will be implemented in February, what is the incentive for doing Nightmare Ops?

  • SWTOR music video

This week’s music video is by YouTube user BroodyElf22. The song is very powerful in this particular video. The song is by Westlife and is titled “I’ll see you again.” This, to me, is an underlining theme in Knights of the Fallen Empire. We go through the story reconnecting with past allies and companions. The particular companion the artist of the music video is the Sith Warrior companion, Malavai Quinn. I know the “hate” for this companion is strong, but this video shows how one player’s character felt about Quinn. Please give this video a view. What companion are you wanting to see again? Let us know in the comment section below.
