Some operation teams are quick to blame bugs for their wipes, but the case may not always be as simple as that. While this game that we play may certainly be buggy on occasion they cannot always be blamed for wipes. Taking a step back to objectively look at what happened that caused the wipe will ensure that these ‘bugs’ aren’t necessarily mechanics that are built into the encounter that you may not fully understand. As the game has changed over time so has the methods of gearing. I wrote an article last June that outlined the different ways of getting gear in order to participate in operations. Over the last six months, BioWare has made this easier to accomplish, but there are still a few little tips I’d like to share. Having a mentality that you will only do your assigned role is a sure way to get stuck in progression. Sometimes you have to think out of the box and take a look at your other powers and abilities to see what will be the best solution to get past hurdles. The statement of “That’s not my job.” has no place in an operation where teamwork is paramount. Continue reading »

A couple of weeks ago I posted a strategy guide to the Nightmare Kephess encounter, but I thought this encounter warranted another look at it in detail. While every operation group is different, I’ll offer up some more insight on this fight and how we handled each phase for our operation composition. This was, by far, the most difficult encounter in the game to date and required different methods of handling each phase.
