[ed. note: Please welcome our newest CRR Staff Writer, Thom Brinkman. His debut article focuses on what it means to play Dark, Light, or Gray in SWTOR.]

Sith or Jedi? Empire or Republic? Good or evil?

The struggle in Star Wars has always been about good versus evil. Darth Vader opposite of Luke Skywalker in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi or even more recently Yoda battling Dooku in Attack of the Clones and against Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith. The whole universe created by George Lucas has inspired many people throughout their lives, and the identity of many geeks would not have been established without Star Wars pulling them in.

Photo-receptor Focus on:  Empire or Republic?
by Maer

Welcome back!  Today let’s chat about which side we’re going to play and why.  I’ll start.

Being the good person I am IRL, I’m naturally going to play Empire characters in SWTOR at the start.  The chance to do the things I don’t get to do in real life is way too tempting.  Cheerfully kill someone just because I can?  Check.  Make choices that hurt others as I laugh with diabolical glee?  Check.  Stride through halls with elegant arrogance and look good doing it?  Check.  (I think I’ve seen some halls in the vids through which I can arrogantly stride anyway.)

Kathy, Carla, and Roxanne appeared on the most recent episode of The Pink Side of the Force with Niq and Lance. We may have talked about SWTOR, but mostly we sit around making 1970s pop culture references and inventing words for Scrabble. Whatever we talked about, we had a good time shooting the breeze with a couple of very cool guys.

[Ed. note: We are pleased to introduce our new weekly columnist, Maer. This week she takes a look at the issue of conjecture and guessing games as we all wait for the release of SWTOR.]

Photo-receptor Focus on: Speculation
by Maer

Welcome to the first weekly installment of “My Two Credits.  What’s Yours?”  Each week, I’ll cover something that has caught my attention or the attention of our enormous community.  I’ll give my opinion, then ask for yours.  Just like a late night talk show.  Except online.  And in print.   Anyway, you get the idea.

Entrance to the Fansite Summit was well-guarded.

Sunny Ravencourt and Radicool from Sunny’s Diner join us to discuss our Fansite Summit experience, plus we are slowly figuring out that Sunny might be a hardcore player in casual  clothing. We also learn that Georg is a playful, vengeful god and that just makes us like him more.

FACT OR FICTION: Can you pick out the confirmed fact from the tall tales? This week’s trick challenge ends unexpectedly, but still fulfills its main purpose of delivering fake facts.
