SWTOR Booth, photo by Jeff Hollis

Roxanne and Kathy did not make it into the city for the first day of New York Comic Con, but Jeff Hollis from TORWars sent a few photos of the event for us. We thought you might enjoy this first glimpse of the convention which goes into high gear tomorrow.

On Friday SWTOR has two major events. The first is their main panel at 2:30 pm EDT. Stephen Reid told Newsarama that there will be no big reveals, but we should get some “nice visuals.” Later that evening at 6:30 pm EDT is a Q&A session hosted by MMORPG.com. SWTOR will have participants on that panel.

Larry Everett Brings It

Roxanne couldn’t make it this episode, but we got Larry Everett (The Republic, Massively) to fill the third seat, which was great when we started our retrospective talk about following SWTOR because he’s been tracking this game since it was just a twinkle in BioWare’s eye. Bonus: three-minute blooper reel where Kathy cannot get through the outro.

FACT OR FICTION: Can you pick out the confirmed fact from the tall tales? This week’s challenge concerns companions, pre-ordering, and PvP.

HoloNet Links #14

Another week is almost over and means one week closer to launch! That also means it is time for this week’s HoloNet Links. We had a pretty busy week, two separate sets of Beta invites went out. This is welcome news after the email mistake had some upset. We found out that a player can find more than five companion characters, and the HoloNet Links introduces a new section, Georg’s Goodies. It follows the posts of lead combat designer, Georg Zoeller. One of the posts is lengthy, but it deals with classes and their roles and has lots of important information.

I would like to take a moment before we go int the links, and remember Steve Jobs. He passed away yesterday, October 5th, 2011, after losing his battle with cancer. Thanks Mr. Jobs for all the innovations you gave the world, and showing us to always think outside the box.

A look at the Star Wars Insider Revan novel excerpt, focusing on how Revan’s character will be handled in SWTOR and the novel.

by Mark Pajor (follow @mpajor on Twitter)

This article contains SPOILERS for the 2003 game Knights of the Old Republic.

Who is Revan? Everyone who has played KotOR (Knights of the Old Republic) has a different answer to that question. Like with Commander Shepard in Mass Effect and the Hero of Ferelden and Hawke in the Dragon Age games, Bioware’s interactive dialogue system lets the players define Revan in any way they please. How, then, can the non-interactive Revan novel satisfy every fan of KotOR? How can one defined character of a book convey the infinite possibilities of Revan? With the first excerpt of the Revan novel in Star Wars Insider magazine, perhaps our questions can be answered.
