I first met SWTOR in 2012, right around Valentine’s Day. It was, as they say, love at first sight. The gorgeous worlds, the immersive stories and those lush and richly voiced cutscenes! No game I had met before even came close. I was instantly smitten and utterly enthralled for three years. But alas, sometimes couples can drift apart. Communication is key in any relationship and I felt that the community team was neglectful of their devoted and powerful player base on social media and let’s not even bring up Exploitgate. I was seeing a lot of sharp marketing and flashy publicity for Star Wars Battlefront but nary a whisper about the game I love above all others. In essence, I sometimes felt like SWTOR just wasn’t that into me. The sizzle was fading, just a little.

Will the spark be rekindled? Find out more after the Jump…

HoloNet Links #199

Wow, another month is nearing an end. Have you been getting a chance to enjoy your Summer, (for those in the Northern Hemisphere)? It has been raining a lot here. That is a bit of a downer as far as doing things outside, but that does mean some extra time to log into SWTOR. It has been fun checking out a couple other servers. As part of our interview with Radio-Free.org, I have been checking out some of the cantina parties.

Now let’s get into this week’s links after the Jump…

HoloNet Links #198

Well another week has come and gone, if only there was some news about SWTOR to discuss in this article. There was a minor mention of an entire new expansion coming to the game. Okay, enough sarcasm, there is a lot to talk about in regards to the announcement by Jeff Hickman, during EA’s press conference at the 2015 E3 convention. BioWare has officially announced the next expansion coming to SWTOR, Knights of the Fallen Empire.

Now let’s get into this week’s links after the Jump…

E3 logo1The speculation for E3 announcement is over. EA, in a press release, has explained about the major news coming to the community. On Monday at E3, EA will official announce the next expansion, Knights of the Fallen Empire. Dr Muzyka came to the stage during EA’s presse conference during E3. Not much, if anything was expected to be said regarding SWTOR during this convention. This assumption was wrong. After giving an update on the game and how well it has been doing in only its first 6 months, he then went on to talk about the future. He confirmed the following items coming soon to SWTOR:

  • Free to play through level 15
  • New planet – Makeb planet with storylines based around the Hutt Cartel
  • New Companion – HK-51
  • New playable specie – Cathar
  • New level cap and abilities
  • New Operation New Warzones and Ranked Warzones
  • LFG (Looking For a Group) tool

Yes, there is no timetable on these additions, but for a new MMO to be giving out this much content is huge and also confirms that BioWare and EA commitment to see this game to continue to grow. There are improvements needed in the game, but they are listening.
