Fast Company Looks at SWTOR

Fast Company, a business magazine that focuses on innovation, digital media, and leadership posted a terrific article on Star Wars: The Old Republic. Writer Jennifer Vilaga talks to Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuk, and Daniel Erickson about BioWare’s early days, the decision to make their first MMO, Daniel’s stress-induced condition which caused a weird kind of memory loss, and more. Bonus: the Doctors’ journey from med students to creators of SWTOR on the eve of release is told in comic-book form.

EA’s Origin Signs Warner Bros., Capcom, THQ

EA’s digital download store, Origin, will start carrying games from independent publishers. In their most recent financial report, they announced a partnership with Warner Brothers Interactive, Capcom, and THQ. This marks the first time games outside the EA umbrella will be sold through their new digital download service. This move puts Origin in direct competition with Steam, currently the leader in digital games sales. Daniel Nye Griffiths takes a look at what this might mean for the consumer in an article at Forbes.com.

EA has already announced that digital copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic will be available only through Origin.

The Doctors: Stop Blaming EA

BioWare Head Honchos Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk told Eurogamer.net that when it comes to game and marketing decisions, dissatisfied fans should not point the finger of blame at EA Games.

The Release Window is Still the Release Window…

Investor conference call time! Which means it was also time for rampant speculation on what we may know or not know about when SWTOR will be released. When the dust settled, and Stephen Reid hopped onto the official forums, it turned out that nothing had really changed — the fans just like to get excited whenever there is release date talk.

The facts:

SWTOR is still targeted for holiday release, which means sometime before the end of 2011
