By Ghoztt

Needless to say, there was quite a bit of outrage from the community once BioWare confirmed that Story Mode Explosive Conflict (SM EC) no longer dropped Black Hole commendations. Their reasoning was that they wanted to remove Story Mode from the progression line and keep it, just that, a playable story. As a result, SM EC was nerfed tremendously in order to allow the more casual players to see it. Was this a bad move on BioWare’s part? Let’s talk about this and a few other things I want to get off my chest. Continue reading »

HoloNet Links #67

By now many of us know Patch 1.4 had some troublesome bugs. It added some great content with the new Operation Terror From Beyond. Speaking of which, be sure to check out Ghoztt’s article on this new Operation’s Hardmode. Okay, back to the bugs, companions were refusing to hide their helmet. I mean one minute I would click for a companion to have it hidden and then get into a conversation and what do you know…their helmet is back on. My companion is just looking at me like nothing is going on, as if I cannot see the helmet covering their face. I see some of you out there think it was bad coding etc. Obviously, some of you didn’t read the patch notes from October the 9th.

Han Thinks Smuggler Heal Animation Needs Work

Larry Everett of Massively and Gamebreaker TV joins Carla, Kathy, and Roxanne this week as we do a final PAX clean-up discussion and spend quite a bit of time talking about guilds, companions and the trinity, and space combat.  We also find out that Larry is a little confused by the Smuggler healing animation.

Fact or Fiction: Can you pick out the confirmed fact from the tall tales?  This week’s host challenge covers friendly fire, Miraluka, and space combat. Continue reading »

Gamespot released a one and a half minute trailer for Taral V, a four-man flashpoint, starting level thirty-two. This seamless fusion of cut scenes and combat footage along with the sweeping musical score gives the game a decided movie-like, AAA single-player game feel. Interesting note: Zabrak Jedi Knight!

The trailer is accompanied by an interview with World Designer Jesse Sky who talks about the basics of a flashpoint (approximately ninety minutes in length, four-man, repeatability). He ends the interview with a line that could come straight from a commercial for SWTOR: “Many of us play the game in our free time for as many hours as we work on it during the week. It’s very exciting. I have a difficult time pulling myself away to play other online games lately, and that speaks volumes.”
