Epic Drops from PAX East 2011

Roxanne and Kathy are back from PAX East and full of gameplay impressions and stories about talking with the BioWare crew and SWTOR fans.  Rather than do our usual format, the two of us just sat in front of our mics and told Carla everything that happened during that wild, wonderful weekend.  Like, starting from, “We got into our car…..”  Hope you enjoy stories about getting lost in Boston! In line for official Meet & Greet. Pic by HereticZero

Roxanne and Kathy made it home from PAX East and they are BEAT.  It was an amazing adventure of driving, navigating the streets of Boston, meeting so many other SWTOR fans, meeting the many amazing and gracious BioWare developers, community managers, etc.  We got formal interviews with Daniel Erickson, James Ohlen, Hall Hood, and Cory Butler.  We also taped some interviews with some terrific fans, some of whom spent the whole weekend standing in line to play SWTOR.  We will be working hard to get all those up on the site as the week goes on. Going to PAX East?  So are we!  And so are a number of different SWTOR podcasts, fansites, and media sites.  We have been talking amongst ourselves and thought it would be fun to arrange a community-wide meet and greet specifically geared to the fansites.

Thus was born the SWTOR Community Cantina event, where TOR-nerds can come meet some of their favorite podcast/fansite personalities and other TOR fans.  Come join us!

What: SWTOR Community Cantina
When: Friday, March 11th
Time: 7 pm – ?
Where: The Times Irish Pub & Restaurant, 112 Broad St. (betw High and Wendell) in downtown Boston
Who (so far): Ask A Jedi, Corellian Run Radio, Curse, Darth Hater, Massively, Mos Eisley Radio, TOR Syndicate

Be aware, this event is separate from the official BioWare SWTOR meet and greet on Saturday.

See you all there.  Leave your lightsabers at the door!

UPDATE: On Friday Stephen Reid closed the target release date thread started by Sean Dahlberg back in October 2008.  In that thread Sean announced Spring 2011 as the target release date.  Stephen directed readers to his new post regarding BioWare’s release date.  The official release window is no longer “Spring 2011,” but “this year after the end of EA’s fiscal 2011.” Hmmmmm……

Yesterday’s quarterly meeting did not provide any new insight into BioWare’s stated target release date of Spring 2011.  EA CFO Eric Brown told callers that the game would ship “calendar  2011, but after the close of fiscal ’11,” which is a bigger window (April 2011-December 2011) than what the fans have been hearing.  This has led to some debate about whether these release date statements contradict each other.  Although we were disappointed that rumors of pushback were neither confirmed nor denied, we did enjoy some of the lighter moments such as the discussion on lightsabers vs. swords.

HK-47 haz salutationz

The last convention of the season rolled through Seattle, WA over Labor Day Weekend.  Did we get a big reveal?  Mmmmm….kinda, sorta, maybe, depending on who you were talking to.

Fact or Fiction Can you pick out the confirmed fact from the tall tales?  This week’s host challenge concerns playable species, playable planets, and Maggot. Continue reading »
