It’s a big day for the eighth of Old Republic fans who plan on playing the Jedi Consular. Now that they’ve waited in excruciating pain every time the other seven class videos went up on the site, they find that the wait’s been worth it. In my opinion, the Consular class trailer is one of the best that Bioware’s made (but maybe that’s because the Consular fits my personality more than the Knight). It highlights the calm strength of the Consular both in combat and glimpses of story points, with narration that seems a bit less cheesy than the ones for some of the other classes.

Like with the other classes’ updates, the video isn’t all the Consular gets.

In addition to Mr. Qyzen Fess’s details as a companion, it looks like we also got another companion teased at us in the video; he’s backing up the Consular at two different points in the video, after all. We’ll probably need to play the game for more details on his identity and personality.

One-shot killed? He won't be my tank!

It’s interesting, though certainly not surprising, that the Consular seems to represent the more mature Jedi. And I’m not just saying that because this one has a beard (though it’s a nice confirmation of facial hair options). The male voice for the Consular sounds much older than David Hayter’s interpretation of the Jedi Knight, and that’s a big plus in my book. Not all Jedi can be young, can they? For every Luke, there needs to be an Obi-Wan.

In addition to the Consular update, we also have the Comic-Con highlights video – or, as I like to call it, the video that convinces you that everyone’s played the game already except you!

But let’s get back to the Consular talk for the eternal question: if you were a Jedi, would you be a Consular or a Knight?

  1. Consular.

Ive always wanted to play the Consular role since the class was comfirmed.

Ive never had much intrest in playing a Knight since I have played many games that offered just that.

  2. Mmmmm… How about those shoulders? Seriously boss mags. =D
