If you’re too proud to ask for directions, don’t worry. Damion Schubert, Principal Lead Systems Designer for The Old Republic, thinks maps are a pretty big deal.
Make sure to read the full update if you want to know how map design works, but here are some key points that directly affect the players:
– The map clearly marks locations for mission offers, objectives, and more.
– “Breadcrumbing” shows you where to exit to objectives not on your current map, similar to what you see in games like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Dragon Age II.
– When you move with your map open, it becomes transparent so you can use both the map and the main screen to navigate.
