HoloNet Links #74

Despite there being time off for Thanksgiving, this current week has been packed with news. From Patch 1.6 content, like new Heroic Space Missions and the new Warzone – Ancient Hypergates all being added to the PTS. Today, 11/29/2012, is BioWare’s LiveStream Event #2 at 3:00-3:30pm CST. The LiveStream Event will be all about Patch 1.6 content and also newly released Free-to-Play option in SWTOR. Be sure to check it out and also ask questions through Twitter (#SWTOR), or SWTOR’s Facebook, or through the LiveStream chat channel.

Update on New Space Missions, SWTOR Community project & more after the Jump…

  • Developer Update – Heroic Space Missions

In the latest developer update, Michael Backus Lead Designer, talks about the new level 50+ Heroic Space Missions. According to the blog, these missions will test the most skilled pilots. However, the rewards are said to be worthwhile to help improve players’ gear. With these missions also being repeatable this should be another way for players to gain credits and commendations without getting burned out on the same thing. This goes back to BioWare wanting the player to play the game how they want. Have you been on the Public Test Server and tried the new space missions? If so please let us know what you thought of the new update to Space Missions in the comment section below.

AmberGreen Companion Stats Issue | 11.27.2012, 10:20 AM

There is currently an issue with companion stats not working properly with their equipped gear. This occurs whenever a companion is summoned after being dismissed. As a workaround to this, please unequip all gear on your companion, and then re-equip all of their gear again in order to get their proper stats back. You will need to do this whenever you summon your companion.
Please know that this is a priority issue for us and that we are working to resolve it as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

This issue should be cleared up with the last maintenance update on November 28th Patch 1.5.1a notes. If you are still having issues with your companion stats not coming back when summoned, make sure to fill out an in-game ticket and include the details of where it happened, and what other circumstances occurred when this bugged happened.

AmberGreen Disappearing Crafting Recipes! | 11.28.2012, 10:27 AM

We appreciate your reports about this issue, and we are actively researching the problem.
If you are experiencing this issue, please post with the following information:

  • What class are you?
  • What is your crew skill?
  • What was the name(s) of the specific schematic(s) that you lost?

While we are working to ensure the fix for an upcoming patch, there isn’t a definitive time frame for the fix. Thanks for your understanding and patience.

Be sure when you complete the bug ticket that you include all the details of what happened when the schematics were gone and also be sure to include the specific names of missing schematics. Hopefully this will be resolved quickly.

Star Wars Community News & Events

  • SWTOR community Project

There are a few community members working to create a simulation program for SWTOR. The idea of the program is to help players save time by allowing them to run multiple simulations of rotations with various talent skills. This will allow players to have data to use for in-game purposes. The project team is in need of others for help. Let’s learn more about the project and how others can help.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, how you got into SWTOR and how you got involved with this project?

My name is Elycia in-game, Sentinel and DPSer overall (PS. Sentinels ftw! Suck it Gunslingers)
Me, like many others here, played the original KOTOR’s to death. I loved the original so when I heard that there was a sequel I was very excited! Then I heard it was an MMO and got a bit less excited… but I pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition on day 1.

This was my first MMO so I was kinda nervous, luckily my favorite webcomic (Ctrl-Alt-Del) also joined and made a guild in the preGuild thing so I decided to join them and have been in Kinetic ever since. Great guild, lovely people and having the time of my life! (We’re also recruiting;)) In my opinion this is one of the best introductions to MMO’s since I’m still playing and loving it.
So a while back I had a discussion with an Operative on the Imperial side who said that they have the best DPS. Being a Sentinel I of course disagreed, Sentinels are known to have the top DPS and share that with Gunslingers. He said that he found info on the web that said so.
Being the stubborn one I held to my point and asked for the site. When I looked I saw that there was no mention of Sentinels or their mirror-class Marauders.
Leaving the troll for what he was I looked up some more info on the project and noticed several people had said/asked something about the Sentinel being added.
Not being a passive one I looked up some more and found their IRC. I joined their channel and started talking with the guy who made the program. He said he’s not doing anything with it but if I wanted to help out he’d make me one of the contributors. So there it is

Tell us a bit about this project? How do you for see it helping players in SWTOR?

The main thing of this program is that it allows people to run simulations of different builds. You can import your MrRobot profile straight into the program and do a simulation.
As far as I’ve seen they use a single rotation for every simulation so you get the same comparable results every time. You can also tweak things like movement etc to see different builds (ie. Madness vs Lightning)
This means that if you’re not sure whether you need more crit or more power, just make adjustments in your MrRobot profile, import and bam, instant comparing between new and old spec. It’ll save people money and more over: TIME!

Are the members working on this project seeking others in the community for help? If so what type of people and qualifications is the project looking for and needing?

Well, I don’t know anyone but the creator and even him I’ve only talked to once.
As far as I know, we can use all the help we can get. All classes are coded in C++ so if there’s anyone out there that knows the classes and C++, we can totally use your skills to update this tool and make it one of the best things since parsers!

How should those wanting to help make this project a reality go about contacting members of the project?

If anyone wants to contact me they can do so on Elysiagec@gmail.com or contact me on The Shadowlands

  • Star Wars Gift Ideas

Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia (hardcover) is the complete index to the Old Republic universe. The encyclopedia covers all the companions, vehicles, planets, events and major characters that are found throughout Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO. This would be a great gift for any player in SWTOR or anyone that wants to learn more about the Star Wars lore.

The next gift idea also comes from SWTOR. It is the action figure Shae Vizla. She is the bounty hunter made famous in the SWTOR “Deceived” cinematic trailer. This action figure is in limited supply and so it is not cheap, however for the Star Wars collector it might just be the figure that fills an empty spot on their shelf.

This week’s final gift idea asks the what if question…”What if Darth Vader took a proactive role in Luke’s life?” The book is titled Darth Vader and Son and takes a funny look at the Dark Lord of the Sith dealing with normal father problems that come from being a dad. The illustrations are cute and are a great way of looking at parent issues for instance the son raiding the cookie jar…albeit Luke using Force powers. This would be a great book for those young parents or those parents that have a great sense of humor.

  • SWTOR music video

This music video comes from a member of the Harbinger server community. Quistes posted the music video below. It takes place during an Alderaan Warzone battle. Quistes took the footage and edited it to the song Bass Cannon by Excision. Also thanks goes out to the guild Army of Monkeys for their help with the video footage during the match. The video is nicely edited and I found the black part of the video a great addition. Come to find out it was to be a slow-motion effect part of the footage, but it seems the finished product came out well. I took the fade to black as what someone hit by a cryo-grenade might see…just black. Leave your comments below on what you think and also take some time to go to the video creator’s Youtube video page and leave your feedback.

That is it for this week’s HoloNet Links. Please leave us your thoughts or suggestions in the comment section below.

Is there a particular link, story, video, or topic related to SWTOR you would like us to highlight? If so please send them to us here at Corellian Run Radio and it might just be included in a future article. You can email us at corellianrun@gmail.com, or you can leave link suggestions in the comments below, or in Corellian Run Radio’s Facebook group. Thanks and see you all next week!
