- Pre-orders! BioWare kicks off Comic Con by opening SWTOR up for pre-orders to selected parts of the world. Unselected parts of the world are unhappy, esp with the lack of information. Stephen Reid explains why here and in Darth Hater interview. When you register determines when you get into early game access. Some codes are not sent out right away. Great show as always. Keep up the great work. 🙂
One possible reason for having early access based on the order you register your key would be a desire by EA to get as many pre-orders as possible before EA’s Q1 2012 Earnings Conference Call which took place Tuesday afternoon. EA was able to announce “record setting pre-orders” for SW:ToR.
Liked the old Fact or Fiction intro better.
I agree. They handled the pre order thing very poorly. I don’t think many people can honestly look back at how that all unfolded and say, “That was a successful marketing and customer service event.”
Excitement, good. Hysteria, bad. There is a difference.
You guys sounded a little frustrated today for some reason. I hope everything is ok.
Have a nice week.
I couldn’t agree more about the difference between hype and hysteria! I didn’t like this whole stealth preorder stuff. LOL
We are both doing good. I don’t know why we sounded frustrated. I think we were both tired, I know Kathy is. She is running hard right now. 🙁
Have a great week!
If they had announced the pre-order the day before it went live in an official statement instead of the “leaks” (which btw gave both the date and time within an hour of drop) , there would have been a couple hundred thousand people trying to order the under hundred thousand CE’s available… can you imagine the server mayhem or forum rage of it selling out in 5 minutes?
Hey gals.
Just wanted to drop a short thank-you note for mentioning the regional fiasco. It has been good to see the post-con podcasts crop up and talk about the issue. 🙂
Ps; Bonus points for mentioning TOROZ in the cast, that was awesome!
Take care gals (and guys), enjoy the rest of the run to launch, here’s hoping it goes a little more smoothly from here. 😉
Also quick note, the link to “Allison Berryman says BioWare does not currently plan to block IPs.” may be broken. It diverts me to a page on http://www.swtor.com which tells me I do not have permission to view the page (even after logging in to the site).
Good show! As for other games coming out there is quite a lot! 🙂
Batman: Arkham City and Battlefield 3 in Oct. Uncharted 3, Skyrim, AC:Revelations and Modern Warfare 3 in Dec.
The price-point is different based on country, cause with our tax system here in Denmark Scandinavia we play around 240 $ for the CE. When I pre-ordered mine last Thursday, all the required info about codes and other stuff was in the FAQ, so imo nothing was missing. Could they have done it differently sure, but everyone who is in the initial launch had a equal chance.
Maybe doing it before or after SDCC and my guess for including the other major areas I would say they start 1-2 weeks after launch and up until 2 months.
