After the sad news yesterday of there being lay-offs at BioWare, rumors started circling about who was let go. Today, they officially announced that the SWTOR “Conductor” – Stephen Reid was one of those affected. He let the community and his Twitter followers know today.

I was one of those affected by layoffs at BioWare Austin yesterday. I got to build an amazing team while I was there, and miss them already. – Stephen Reid

Despite having to deal with all of us gamers and all the crazy questions, complaints etc. Stephen aka @Rockjaw never said a bad word or put down the community. He would give various developers looks at some of their responses…knowing full well that as the community manager he would have to endure the backlash or outcry from the “rabid” forum users, Twitter followers.

While it is sad for anyone to lose their job at any time, today feels like the SWTOR Community is losing a family member, even if he is the wild uncle with a British accent. All the best to you Stephen from all us here at Corellian Run Radio…May the Force be with you always!

HoloNet Links #39

James Ohlen is again asking for the community’s input. This time the subject is Open World PVP. I know that there are many, many people that have some strong feelings on this issue. The important thing to remember is to be constructive with your ideas and try and limit the number of posts to his Twitter, @JamesOhlen or the new forum thread. Speaking of the new thread, there will also be a poll regarding Open World PVP. So if you have had issues with Open World PVP and have a suggestion on how Bioware can improve it…now is your time to act.

HoloNet Links #32

Today’s patch should hopefully be a step in the right direction to fixing the issues on Ilum. Let’s hope so. Many of us follow the Dev posts daily and I have to say that yesterday’s post from Stephen Reid was some of the best news I have seen. Bioware has heard the community and is working to get a character copy for the Public Test Server.

“Other ideas to allow the testing of high-level content have been explored, but ultimately character transfer is what we want to allow for everyone.”

You can read below the entire post below in Dev notes section. Yes there are no exact dates yet, but all I can say is finally! The more high level characters that can test new updates, the better this game will be. Thank you Bioware for listening to the community…Okay enough praise get back to work, as the rest of us prepare to make the Jump.

More dev notes, Star Wars News, & a SWTOR video tip after the Jump…

HoloNet Links #31

We start off this week’s article with a bit of news from yesterday on the official game press release, after just about six weeks post-launch Star Wars: The Old Republic has sold over 2 million copies, with nearly 1.7 million of them as subscribers! That is just amazing to me. The article goes on to break down some of the “shocking” numbers reached at just past the one month marker:

  • Over 239 million in-game hours, this equals 332,000 months or roughly 27,000 years in-game time.
  • Over 20 billion NPCs killed (This includes the docile animals my nephew enjoys to target)
  • Over 148 billion credits spent (Most of my help in this was spending them on crew skills)

I don’t know about you, but to me those numbers are pretty hard to comprehend. All I know is that this game is beyond addictive and I just love it!

More links from the past week & of course some fun after the Jump… Continue reading »
